Default christmas at casinos

since i'm jewish, and could use a vacation anyway and since everything is closed, i was thinking of hitting AC for a few days, maybe the Borg and whatever else, play a lot of cards and relax when it's not as crowded. Anyone ever been down there christmas? assume it's pretty dead but probably still some asians and jews and others who may not celebrate xmas with their families. Thought it'd be a different idea and something cool.

I was at the Borg on Christmas Day 2005. It was moderately busy, with equal parts Jews, Asians, and degenerates. (Presumably there was also some overlap among the groups). I was also briefly at Trump Marina and it was pretty dead.

If you like the Borg, you'll like it at Christmas, too.

Thanks.....Actually, I have never been to the Borg amazingly enough, I go to ceasars since it's so soft, and Taj which I dont love, but my buddies wanted to stay on strip for cheap table games...This time I'm going solo or with another gambler, so i will do Borgata, the best place there is from all accounts.......Any advice on hotels? I dont really want to drive to absecon after drinking at the borg, but the borg's pricey to stay there...how about poker rates, or is christmas considered too busy to get it? I'd even stay at showboat, trop, anywhere really, if absolutely need be i'd do absecon but id prefer not...figured maybe christmas would be dead so id get a poker rate somewhere, any thoughts?

Personally, I like to stay at the Sheraton in AC; it's a high-quality, recently updated hotel, and it's generally cheaper than all but the crappiest casino hotel rooms (sometimes you can get a cheaper rate in the Claridge tower at Bally's or the oldest part of the Trop). A cab between there and the Borg is about $9 or $10; you can walk or take a short cab to the Boardwalk casinos.

When I went there at Christmas two years ago, I got a really cheap rate Trump Marina ($99 on December 25, I think). The hotel is tacky but decent; there's is no high-speed internet (wired or wireless), which I care about, but you may not. Hotel rates in AC are up over the last two years, so YMMV.

There have been previous threads about poker rates in AC; I'd look there for guidance, or call the poker rooms (not the casino front desks) and ask. You definitely can't get a poker rate at the Borg without a lot of previous play.

thanks again....sheraton is on the boardwalk or near it i assume, as is trump marina if i recall? was that with the poker rate at sheraton or without? that would work, just park there and cab it to/from borg....trump marina probably fine too, $100 would be good though I dont think they have poker which I dont care since i'll hang out at borg....yeah hotel rates have gone up definitely..

Sheraton is at the convention center, 4 blocks inland from the boardwalk. It's not a casino hotel, so no poker rate. Trump Marina is far from the boardwalk. It's across the street from the Borgata, but you can't walk between them, because of the way the roads are laid out.

We went to Vegas for Christmas a few years ago. It was depressing as [censored]. Slot junkies feeding the machines at 8 am Christmas morning, etc.

My parents usually got o AC for Christmas. They tell me that Christmas eve the places aren't busy and that the bulk of the business revolves around the Asian Games. But on Christams day the casinos get very busy.

My parents are poker players so they really wouldn't notice how the poker rooms are.

yeah, I mean I figure christmas eve might be kind of weird and dead places, but maybe the Borg will have some people. And yeah, slot junkies are depressing but I ignore them. I figure christmas day I'll grab breakfast somewhere (some food stuff has to be open in casinos?) maybe walk around, then go play some poker, probably will lay off the pit games...Just thought it'd be different, as hanging on Long Island and hitting a packed movie and packed restaurant isnt appealing
