Playing Small Overpairs OOP
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter
MP3 (t1290) CO (t6575) Button (t2060) SB (t3005) Hero (t5125) UTG (t2225) UTG+1 (t3150) MP1 (t3065) MP2 (t5770) Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 3 folds, MP2 raises to t450, 4 folds, Hero calls t300. Flop: (t975) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: t975 Converter is messed up but I led for 600, he minraised to 1200 and I folded. Standard right? Basically, against a villain you don't really know (not really aggressive or tight, just another random), what's the best line to take in spots like this? Lead and fold to raise, check/call then lead safe turn to get info, check/call down if it's not pricey and no scare cards come, other?? With like jacks, maybe tens I'd just get it in, but what's the best way to play 77-99 in spots like this. |

Re: Playing Small Overpairs OOP
I like check-call, check-fold if he fires a blank turn again. I want to showdown this hand cheaply and if I can't I rather not play a big pot OOP with a marginal hand. Reverse implied odds or something like that right?

Re: Playing Small Overpairs OOP
Donk/fold is safer. You won't go broke that way. I would probably check/call and reevaluate on the turn. There is enough in after a cbet that you could also just checkraise and hope he doesn't really have a higher pp.

Re: Playing Small Overpairs OOP
Ew donk fold? I'd either check/call/guess or donk/get it in. Maybe CR very small and get it in.
