100NL: KK Gets Double-Donked
Villain is ~18/6.5/6 (street-by-street AF: infinite/2/0) in 175 hands. I don't recognize him...I have zero hands on him since May 12, so he's either been playing 50NL or just hasn't played at all. I just sat down a few hands ago.
Ultimate Bet - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 9 Players UTG+1: $85.90 Hero (BTN): $102.20 Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (9 Players) 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1.00, 1 fold, MP2 calls $1.00, 2 folds, Hero raises to $5.00, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls $4.00, 1 fold Flop: ($12.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) UTG+1 bets $9.00, Hero calls $9.00 Turn: ($30.50) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) UTG+1 bets $20.00, Hero ??? Stack sizes make this a bit awkward, as he only has $51.90 left after this bet. |

Re: 100NL: KK Gets Double-Donked
Any reason why you didn't raise the flop?
The turn 5 is a horrible card IMO. 87s is definately in his range and you are drawing dead against that hand. Other reasonable hands are J+flush draw, and maybe other flush draws. I probably shove over the top on the turn given what what I think his range is, and I don't expect him to ever fold. |

Any reason why you didn't raise the flop? [/ QUOTE ] Because I'm retarded. Since he's fairly tight, I figured he wouldn't double-donk with a draw, so I thought smooth calling the flop would force him check the turn, and my turn bet would force him to define his hand. I just over-thought things and assumed too much. |

It creates the illusion to many villians that you are on a draw or overcard draw (AK/AQ), and he should rightfully fire the turn again rather than give you a free card if he is a reasonable player. I don't think a decent player checks the turn after you call the flop, I know 95% of the time that I am villian I will bet/fold or bet/3betAI on the turn. I think your line may be ok given deep stacks or short stacks, but against 80-100bb I think we need to raise the flop. Not raising put you in this position. Which is a tough spot. I think you have committed yourself to get it allin. |
