Normal decision, right? Or uber-maniacal?
I was "trolling" through the O8 lobby on PokerStars and
noticed a "bloated" average pot-size in the PL 3-6. First, some background on the villain, "cottonf2006": 3 hands before "the hand": -------------------------- PokerStars Game #9018133694: Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit ($3/$6) - 2007/03/21 - 16:34:17 (ET) Table 'Newell II' 9-max Seat #7 is the button Seat 1: mustachepete ($370.50 in chips) Seat 2: flabbygaby ($354 in chips) Seat 3: The Brainiac ($658.95 in chips) Seat 4: Brummell ($344.95 in chips) Seat 5: cottonf2006 ($182.20 in chips) Seat 6: sukoutonme ($718.65 in chips) Seat 7: G-love2 ($347.95 in chips) Seat 8: mangler241 ($594 in chips) Seat 9: davebreal ($3097.75 in chips) mangler241: posts small blind $3 davebreal: posts big blind $6 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to mangler241 [4h 4c 3d 6h] mustachepete: folds flabbygaby: folds The Brainiac: folds Brummell: folds cottonf2006: calls $6 sukoutonme: folds G-love2: raises $21 to $27 mangler241: folds davebreal: folds cottonf2006: calls $21 *** FLOP *** [Qh Jh Qs] cottonf2006: checks G-love2: bets $36 cottonf2006: raises $119.20 to $155.20 and is all-in G-love2: folds cottonf2006 collected $132 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $135 | Rake $3 Board [Qh Jh Qs] Seat 1: mustachepete folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 2: flabbygaby folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 3: The Brainiac folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: Brummell folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: cottonf2006 collected ($132) Seat 6: sukoutonme folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: G-love2 (button) folded on the Flop Seat 8: mangler241 (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 9: davebreal (big blind) folded before Flop previous hand: -------------- PokerStars Game #9018168198: Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit ($3/$6) - 2007/03/21 - 16:36:31 (ET) Table 'Newell II' 9-max Seat #9 is the button Seat 2: flabbygaby ($348 in chips) Seat 3: The Brainiac ($697.95 in chips) Seat 4: Brummell ($344.95 in chips) Seat 5: cottonf2006 ($245.20 in chips) Seat 6: sukoutonme ($712.65 in chips) Seat 7: G-love2 ($600 in chips) Seat 8: mangler241 ($591 in chips) Seat 9: davebreal ($3067.75 in chips) flabbygaby: posts small blind $3 The Brainiac: posts big blind $6 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to mangler241 [3h Js 6c 4h] Brummell: folds cottonf2006: calls $6 sukoutonme: folds G-love2: calls $6 mangler241: folds davebreal: raises $12 to $18 flabbygaby: folds The Brainiac: folds cottonf2006: calls $12 G-love2: calls $12 *** FLOP *** [8h 4s Ts] cottonf2006: checks G-love2: bets $18 davebreal: calls $18 cottonf2006: raises $114 to $132 G-love2: folds davebreal: folds cottonf2006 collected $114 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $117 | Rake $3 Board [8h 4s Ts] Seat 2: flabbygaby (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 3: The Brainiac (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 4: Brummell folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: cottonf2006 collected ($114) Seat 6: sukoutonme folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: G-love2 folded on the Flop Seat 8: mangler241 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: davebreal (button) folded on the Flop Okay, I pick up "something"! ---------------------------- PokerStars Game #9018183699: Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit ($3/$6) - 2007/03/21 - 16:37:32 (ET) Table 'Newell II' 9-max Seat #2 is the button Seat 2: flabbygaby ($345 in chips) Seat 3: The Brainiac ($691.95 in chips) Seat 4: Brummell ($344.95 in chips) Seat 5: cottonf2006 ($323.20 in chips) Seat 6: sukoutonme ($712.65 in chips) Seat 7: G-love2 ($564 in chips) Seat 8: mangler241 ($591 in chips) Seat 9: davebreal ($3031.75 in chips) The Brainiac: posts small blind $3 Brummell: posts big blind $6 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to mangler241 [8h Ah Ad 8d] cottonf2006: calls $6 sukoutonme: folds G-love2: folds mangler241: raises $21 to $27 davebreal: folds flabbygaby: calls $27 The Brainiac: calls $24 Brummell: folds cottonf2006: calls $21 *** FLOP *** [6h Ts 3d] The Brainiac: checks cottonf2006: checks mangler241: bets $111 flabbygaby: folds The Brainiac: folds cottonf2006: raises $185.20 to $296.20 and is all-in mangler241: calls $185.20 *** TURN *** [6h Ts 3d] [2d] *** RIVER *** [6h Ts 3d 2d] [8c] *** SHOW DOWN *** cottonf2006: shows [Tc 3s 5c 6s] (HI: two pair, Tens and Sixes; LO: 8,6,5,3,2) mangler241: shows [8h Ah Ad 8d] (HI: three of a kind, Eights; LO: 8,6,3,2,A) mangler241 collected $351.70 from pot mangler241 collected $351.70 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $706.40 | Rake $3 Board [6h Ts 3d 2d 8c] Seat 2: flabbygaby (button) folded on the Flop Seat 3: The Brainiac (small blind) folded on the Flop Seat 4: Brummell (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 5: cottonf2006 showed [Tc 3s 5c 6s] and lost with HI: two pair, Tens and Sixes; LO: 8,6,5,3,2 Seat 6: sukoutonme folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: G-love2 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 8: mangler241 showed [8h Ah Ad 8d] and won ($703.40) with HI: three of a kind, Eights; LO: 8,6,3,2,A Seat 9: davebreal folded before Flop (didn't bet) I didn't like the fact that my low was "pathetic", but I simply wanted to isolate. I was also sort of hoping to get the pot heads-up or 3-way, but when the flop came rainbow, I was only worried about A245 or a set of tens. Should I be happy that the anticipated CR all-in occurred, even though I was in a MULTIWAY POT? I think maybe I should have picked another spot since I was clearly behind in the hand and just got a little lucky! Well, I'm not that behind with the actual hand according to two dimes: http://twodimes.net/h/?z=2520431 pokenum -o8 ah ad 8h 8d - tc 6s 5c 3s -- ts 6h 3d Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts 3d 6h cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Ad 8d Ah 8h 201 231 589 0 423 72 0 0.468 6s 3s Tc 5c 253 589 231 0 76 24 0 0.532 (Obviously, I picked up a fine turn card!). OTOH, my opponent's actual hand may have been near the bottom of his CR all-in type of hands, so overall, maybe I don't stand that well. Not to mention that there were two other opponents that could have something! Had I checked the flop, maybe I would not have scooped! Still, AA88ss isn't toilet paper. |

Re: Normal decision, right? Or uber-maniacal?
BTW, nice stack!
I saw you "value bet" TTxy (1/3 of the pot or so) on a board of 555Jx (3-suited) and got called in two spots! Times are good! |
