Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
Stupid, I agree. If my money was in interest free checking right now, I might as well go to a B&M Bank and find a decent money market rate (5%). Much faster and save me a few days (weeks?) of lost interest. Those days are gonna add up fast considering I now have only 60 days at the teaser rate.
It would have been nice to be informed of the "mail lag" at some time during the application process (I did not read TOS so I could have missed it there). |

Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
shine,
you should get an email with a "temporary log-in/username" or whatever....if not, just email them like I did and say "hey man how the hell do I log into my account? I want to put money in there!" And they responded that day with my log-in number. Once you have that, you can see your account (with initial deposit), but you can't do anything with it. you will also need to wait on your TEMPORARY FRICKIN PASSWORD to come in SNAIL GODDAMN MAIL. Once you get this, log in, and set up your desired username/password/and pass KEY. Sigh. Good luck! |

Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
Man my account says I've earned $0.00 interest year to date. WTF!?
My account has been opened since 2/24/2007 with a substantial initial deposit...why is it not showing my INTEREST!?!? Please help! I've emailed customer service but it says it may take them 48 hours to reply. Nice. -PHB |

Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
I believe they don't post the interest you've earned year to date until they actually put it into your account.
You don't get to see your interest compounding every day like ING- but don't worry they're good for it =p |

Today is March 1st, so I thought it would show up (ING's is creditted to my acct. today). Am I supposed to just freakin' calculate it myself?? Perhaps they pay you 30 days after you sign up? Did you sign up on the 5th of a month? Maybe mine won't be released until the 24th of this month.. anyway, thanks! |

Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
I don't think it's paid on every 5th. I think you get the interest paid on the date after a month has passed since you signed up (and every month thereof).

Re: HSBC New Money earns 6%
This is from HSBC direct website FAQs.
http://www.hsbcdirect.com/1/2/1/osa/...ode=M0900007AQ How is the interest calculated on my HSBC Direct Online Savings Account? Multiply the amount that you’ve deposited by the APY and by the amount of time that the money is invested. You will accrue daily interest on your account, compounded monthly and credited to your available balance at the end of each monthly cycle. |
