My last three trips to Vegas, I haven't set foot in Bellagio.

From your posts here I don't blame you, you don't play limits big enough that it matters, i wouldn't play at the Bellagio either if I were in your shoes.

All - 95% of the Bellagio hate comes from people who do not play at significant limits. Bellagio is primarily a high limit room, these players don't complain that much because it doesn't matter when its the only or nearly-only game in town. This immediately disqualifies the vast majority of Bellagio gripes we hear on 2+2.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know if you could sum it up any better. Well played.

5. They have the rudest, most unhelpful high limit floor in the business (until they get to know you).

6. They will only make an effort to you know you after receiving (what they feel), are adequate tokes (the more you toke, the more they'll acknowledge you).

7. They make you feel like a beggar for asking to get a meal comped. Even after 15 hours of high limit play for a solid week, they act like they're doing you some huge favor.

8. They ARE doing you a huge favor when they give you a comp, because the food prices at the Bellagio are friggin ridiculous!

*My last experience may be tainted, since I was there during a tournament and to their credit, things were very busy and hetic for the floor. Still, I thought most were incredibly rude to people they didn't know well.

*I suppose the same can be said for the Commerce with respect to toking, but at least they treat you like royalty once you're established there.

If I wanted to play big NL I'd go to the Wynn uncapped or L.A. games or 45 minutes from here at Lucky Chances before I went to the Bellagio. If I wanted to play big LHE I'd go to L.A. or the 100/200 game 10 minutes from here before I went to the Bellagio.

I play at the B because the games are juicy, but the place is a hole. The room is filthy, they play 10 handed on uncomfortable chairs, can't get a food comp if your life depended on it, you are constantly justled by everyone walking by...but, you can make money. The Wynn is the bomb in all areas except game selection. Unfortunately the high limits are filled with locals, nits and pros, and the last few weeks everyone has been at Commerce because they couldn't even get a 5/10 game going. Why not up the time by a buck and go to 9 handed. I don't know one player who wouldn't put in the extra dollar for more room and comfort. But hey, maybe it's just me.

At Bellagio I turned my seat around and sat on it backwards, which is how I normally play long sessions. I was promptly told I could not do this.

everyone - it wont matter in 1 1/2 years when the games are moved to City Center. Its not in MGM's best interest to make any changes at this point when they are already building the new poker room to marginalize Bellagio (just like they did with Mirage in the past). Think big picture...

PS: word on the street is that Bobby Baldwin might be resigning, its still speculative rumor but we know he was just given a new title without a promotion that sparked the rumors. Check the latest issue of Gambling Times for more info.

PPS: The Bellagio is generally busy enough that I don't think anyone will miss the players who won't play there.

PPPS: LOL at pig4bill's "If I wanted to". I relate this to people who say "if I had a million dollars I would xxx", but when people actually have a million dollars there opinions on what they would do would likely change.

PPPPS: I don't play at Bellagio as often as I used to because I have choices - and they are packed without my business, they don't need me. When I had no choice I would go there in a heartbeat.

??

The chairs were all replaced when they re-modeled the room a couple of years ago. Now that some time has passed, a few of them are getting a little creaky--but it's not any worse than any other room. I have to admit, the chairs in the Venetian are a bit nicer, but the ones at the Bellagio are fine.

Floor person for the high limit no limit area is often that asian cougar that can't speak English well. Why in God's name would you hire someone to call out names from a list when they can't speak/understand English well AT ALL.

[/ QUOTE ]

That would be "Wan". In my experience, she's a sweetie. She always keeps an eye out for me, and makes sure my seat gets locked up. And btw, I'm not a "regular" at the B, since I live on the other side of the continent--but within a day or so of my being in town on a trip, she remembers who I am, has my name on the lists for the games I like even before I get to the podium, etc. And I'm not a huge tipper, btw. I'm a typical Sklansky-esque 2p2 nit.

[ QUOTE ]
The old man that takes names down in the front (low limit) area is a huge dousche. He gets mad at me if I ask any question about the list, switching tables, etc.. They all act like they are doing you a favor by doing their job.

[/ QUOTE ]

That would be Dave Naif--you're right, he's a douche. 'nuff said. However, in my experience, he is the exception, not the rule--most of the floor people rate from better-than-average to exceptional. But I am glad that he's working the low limit area nowadays, so I don't have to interact with him at all (my wife does and can't stand him either, but that's another story...).

I know that a separate-from-the-Bellagio, "high roller" type casino is in the works for City Center. But is this really anticipated (a big poker room, supplanting Bellagio)? You probably know more than I do...but I find it hard to believe that a poker room in a semi, sorta, kinda, exclusive gated community kind of place is really going to displace the one in a (for lack of a better term) "public" kind of casino, like Bellagio.

I was thinking of buying a place at City Center, but I passed. If you're right about the poker situation migrating there, I may be forced to reconsider that decision.
