And what do you suggest they do with all of that extra salary?

Probably hard to do better than getting the best regular season player in baseball.

[/ QUOTE ]

Couldn't resist.

Hmmm guess Arod is the last really really good player to ever be a FA.
oh well...gg Yankees

People are acting like losing Arod makes them a team that isn't a strong favorite to make the playoffs. Look at the absolutely awful pitchers who made so many starts last year, that and injuries was the reason we did badly for so long last year. Now Igawa, Desalvo, Pavano, Clippard, etc are replaced with Hughes, Joba, and Kennedy. Losing Arod hurts but team is still going to win soooo many games next year.

[/ QUOTE ]

Who says Kennedy is going to be great?

Look, I think these young pitchers are going to be terrific, but having 2 rookies and 1 2nd year guy heading up the Yankees' rotation doesn't fill me with confidence, esp. when the bullpen stinks and it'll be in the game in the 6th inning every night.

The Yankees desperately need Pettitte to return - he ate up a lot of innings.

but losing a-rod is huge, without a doubt. while the yankees' new pitchers will help, almost everyone else on the team is declining (save cano and cabrera).

He doesn't have to be great. Just has to be a solid #3 or #4 or #5 starter

I believe the Yankees have something like $90MM to play around with this offseason assuming they increase their payroll by 5%. That's before Posada and Rivera get inked, but they'll still have a boatload to spend.

My new gameplan for the Yankees is to trade Wang/Cabrera/other prospect for Santana, and ink him to a 6/150 extension. Then sign Hunter/Jones/Rowand to replace Cabrera.

Ya but Jeter doesn't cause as many headaches as Arod.

If Jeter does bad in playoffs Yanks don't have to deal with media circus cuz he has done good in playoffs with yanks before. Jeter doesn't say stupid [censored] to media. Jeter doesn't do stupid [censored] on the field to piss teams/people/media off.
Jeter [censored] lots a chicks but thats fine cuz he's single so no biggie

[/ QUOTE ]

blah blah blah... Just retract your original statement and move on. What you're saying is retarded.

-media circus in New York? NO WAY!

-you want to get rid of the best position player in baseball because he says some stupid [censored] to the media at times?

-you have no clue how his teammates feel about those incidents, so stop acting like you do.
