Think of someone you hate. You have a choice between: A. You getting $50k and that person getting $10k B. You getting $25k and that person getting $0 If you choose B then you are a moron. I don't get why everyone is hating on this OP. [/ QUOTE ] Regarding your example, it totally disregards the aspects of morality and justice. But lets just continue to disregard those elements for fun's sake. Here's my example: Think of a poker site you hate. They stole hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars from players, and there is nothing to stop them from doing it again. You have a choice of: A. Playing on the site that you know cheated players, and has little reason not to do it again B. Playing on a site that has never been proven to have cheated its players If you choose A you're a moron. |

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
i don't think representing this scandal as AP stealing from its customers for its direct benefit is an accurate description of what happened.
A person high up in the company, possibly (probably?) an part owner abused a hole in the software he either created or found. Absolute, as a company, didn't steal from me. |

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
All I know is that if AP survives this scandal the superusers will start popping on poker sites that are in financial troubles, sites that don`t run well or just sites that are owned by greedy mo fos.
It is inevitable as collusion over aim/msn, bots and multi accounts were since the first day of internet poker. Only now the house will be the scammer. It will become a business with 0% RoR and a huge gain. So yeah... go play on AP and help the fall of internet poker, but not before you eventually lose every dollar you ever invested in it. |

Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
[ QUOTE ]
This isn't the Civil Rights Movement. We are talking about internet poker. [/ QUOTE ] We're not just talking about internet poker. We're talking about a business that stole a crapload of money from its customers and was allowed to go unpunished for it's crime. And if they can go unpunished, then ANY poker site can cheat their players again with little risk. Of course it's not the civil rights movement, but it can still be a movement for our rights, our rights to play online poker in an honest environment (those rights are important too). This can only be done by making "those who could cheat you think it is in their best interests not to" and the only way we can do that is by not playing at AP. Ofcourse you think this is impossible, but is it really? It certainly is an extremely hard task when people in powerful positions, such as yourself, deny that there is even a chance this can happen or that they even deserve it. Unfortunately, neither the mainstream media outlets or wellknown poker players have discussed this Absolute Poker Scandal in full (that ESPN article I'm waiting for that was supposed to come out 3 weeks ago comes to mind). Maybe if more people in powerful positions spoke out against the injustices committed by Absolute Poker, they would be ran out of business? I'd bet my money on that, but it's too bad because it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to step up. |

Did You Miss These Words?
"You are not going to put them out of business regardless. And it is still not clear whether they deserve it or whether that would be in the best interests of internet poker in general."
Many of the posts seem to have come from people who didn't seem to realize I said this. Obviously if Absolute owners are thieves instead of clowns and a two plus two boycott would put them out of business, I would be all for it. As it is, I didn't exactly propose we should all go rushing to play there. |
