I'm teh suck at this game even though I am slightly proficient in other shooter games.

Can anyone be kind enough to share some tips on how not to get slaughtered?

Let's see.

Here's some pointers for multiplayer:

For smaller maps get more close ranged weapons, such as that shotgun pistol, shotgun, sword, etc. Also, when using shotgun pistol/shotgun, always shoot then melee, if you get it right they'll be dead.

Learn to use grenades very well, throw them off walls, behind you, anything to injure the enemy.

With Battle rifle, and basically any weapon, obviously aim for the head. Hm, can't think of any else right now too tired.

Get the gravity hammer, any map, you win.

With the assault rifle, try short bursts rather than just all out auto.

With the battle rifle, aim for the head. Same goes for the snipers, carbines, pistols.

With grenades, especially the spike and plasmas, try and 'lead' the enemy to where they will be.

Always keep your weapons reloaded, even if you only used a couple of bursts.

In close combat, unless the confrontation is over quickly - jump. It will likely confuse your opponent and give you an opportunity to beat him down/assassinate him.

Jump a lot, find things to jump off of to jump other places. Play the vertical game. If you are always coming from the top there is a much greater chance of getting head shots.

Always move when you shoot unless you have cover. If you have trouble aiming try a different sensitivity. In the open throw the cross hairs on his head and move with him instead of moving the right stick. If you get the 1st shot in (ESP with battle riffle) Charge in at him and move around the player at the same time. If you have time ( you don't get shot at 1st) to throw a grenade 1st then start shooting.

LOL whenever I get in a gunfight, especially in the open, I always jump around like a maniac.

Are any of the equipment pickups worth anything? Which ones are best? Me and my twin bro are playing through the campaign and have done pretty well without using any of them.

ya i was wonderin that too, i always have some equipment thing and i dont know what it is or when to use it. ive learned that jumping around like crazy works, but i still get killed in the air
