5/10 vs 3/6 LHE
I've been having a disagreement with a few of my peeps about the profit one can make in each game.
10 tends to be nitty with it being a 2 chip game. And its been argued that the rake alone make 6 less profitable. But I think the greater action more than makes that up. What are your assessments of each game.

It all comes down to matchups - if the 5/10 field is substantially better than 3/6, that likely negates any benefit to the relative rake.

I've never seen $5/10 live. Used to drive me crazy playing with so many $1 chips, but I've come to accept the perspective of the casinos. If you have any reasonable bankroll, there's no reason to play $3/6 in Las Vegas ever when you can play $4/8 at the Bellagio, and $8/16 would be even better most of the time. Mirage has a $10/20 game and it's nice not to have to deal with all those chips, but then again I think Wynn has a $9/18 game.

It tends to not really go much, its one or two tables between the half dozen 3/6 and 10/20s.

The relationship b/w chip structure and looseness is a totally overrated concept.
I hate 4 chip/8 chip games; they cause way more logistical problems counting out chips than they are worth. On the other hand, playing 2/4 with mostly red chips, as is done in many AC rooms, is stupid as well, since you have to make change on almost every bet.

But its normally a bunch of old guys telling stories so its like hanging out with my grandpa. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

That's the way it is at Foxwoods. $10/20 would also be played with red $5 chips, 2 chips/4 chips. Wynn has $8/16 but not $9/18. -Tom
