next time your in vegas, try binions poker room. it has that "old vegas" feel to it, tons of tables, the staff is awesome! and has a nice mix of quality players and lots of juicy fish running around just waiting to give their money away!

[/ QUOTE ]

Playing at Binions was one of the worst poker experiences I've had. When I was there, the staff wasn't doing much to reign in a drunk who was way over the top obnoxious, loud, and driving away players. The room itself is run down and depressing. I'll never go back.

My answer to OP:
Borgata
Caesars LV
Venetian
Wynn

Mirage, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Caesars AC, and Bellagio are decent, but a notch below.

I'm really surprised that Bellagio's room isn't first rate (outside of Bobby's room). You would think they would keep it on par with the rest of the hotel/casino which otherwise is the best anywhere. They would never cram the table games together in the rest of the casino like they do the poker tables, and I can't believe how worn the felt is. They run the room in about the least inviting manner possible. I still like playing there because of the games and seeing the big names, but I don't see why they wouldn't have all the other factors measure up to Bellagio standards.

I've only played in a few in Vegas and home casino is Caesar's IN. But, from the pics I've seen I think playing at the new Beau Rivage in Mississippi would be pretty cool. A very "old school" look to the room and it looks very plush although small.

I'll add to the chorus of voices in this thread in saying that I really like the Wynn. Strictly based on looks of the place and not quality of games/dealers/environment, I'd also nominate Artichoke Joe's (totally dig the eel in the aquarium) in the Bay Area and the Hustler in LA. Both are pretty sweet places to check out, although there isn't much to play at either. 25/50 at the Hustler is all sorts of fun, though - huge pots ($5 chips - a turn raise is a whole stack!) and interesting characters like Bobby.

I realize that its in the middle of nowhere, but I will put the new 46 table room at WinStar in Oklahoma up there with any Vegas room.

Its brand new and very nicely decorated. Its not as plush as Venetian but everything is brand new, its huge and theres plenty of action.

Since the OP said "nicest poker room in the US"..not just Vegas..I vote for WinStar.

There is lots of good cleavage at the Borgata as well.
And I actually liked the cocktail waitresses' outfits at the Venetian better than those anywhere else in Vegas, including the Wynn.

played there - you kidding?

it was away from the casino floor - that was about the only thing I really dug about it - of course, it had NL too -

it was good, but nicest? - ah hell no.

I'll put in a plug for my hometown room Canterbury Park.
Great facilities, great staff and loosest LHE games you could ever find make for a nice place to play.

Other nicest I have played at include;
1)Wynn
2)Venetian
3)Caesars

[/ QUOTE ]

Great shout out for Canterbury here! Def. worthy of a mention in the thread - and for sure the premiere card room in the Midwest, without question. Wish state law allowed them to spread some NL, but then, the LHE would dry up ... and we def. don't want that to happen at CP. At least they have those donktastic 15BB SNGs for NL wannabees.

I also agree with Wynn-Venetian-Caesar's being 1-2-3 in Vegas.

Great post, OP.

[/ QUOTE ]

speaking of which, I'm about to go out to play pocket AA tuesday.

Years ago, during the Fall classic, before he was the name he is now, I talked to Mike Sexton about our room - I think he rated it in the top 3 - just the fact we don't have the casino noise to deal with is killer.

Well, that and the lousy players -

for pure atmosphere, I really liked Monte Carlo's room - and MGM was one of the only rooms that served Jameson whiskey, but the noise factor was irritating.
