You can see in his eyes, every time he looks at the camera, that he misses Remy. I mean, you have your choice between Thompson (I think that is his name)

[/ QUOTE ]

It's Joe Simpson, he's been on TBS forever. He's actually not terrible overall (though he's been doing that "no reason to throw him a strike here" shtick on every 0-2 count since the beginning of time) but he and Don definitely need to develop some kind of chemistry if they're going to be a regular playoff team in the booth.

Maybe Don can tell him that he thinks the moon moves because of the wind. Or that he doesn't like broadcasting games in ARI to watch an enchilada and tostada race.

Or maybe, he didn't really care that much about this game. He gets pretty excited when BOS does well.

Don Orsillo doing the Rockies/Padres game on TBS? WTF?

[/ QUOTE ]

I still sometimes mistake his voice for Sean McDonough and I did it again today.

[/ QUOTE ]

Shortly after McDonough got let go for Orsillo he was on WEEI whining about how he was replaced by a guy that copied his voice. WEEI thought it was so funny they did a skit about it, ridiculing him.

Doesn't this hurt BOS more than LAA? From what I remember, even though Bucknor wasn't very consistent with his calls, he was giving pitches off of the plate to the pitcher. BOS leads MLB in walks with 689 and LAA 21st with 507. LAA also strikes out much less (definitely swing more- 1578 base hits): 27th with 883. BOS is 21st with 1042 K with 'only' 1561 hits. It would seem that pitchers getting the call would hurt teams more that walks a lot and hit more HR than a team that swings at a lot of pitches and doesn't hit as many HR.

Bucknor has historically slightly favored hitters. This year, his strike % and BB/9 are both right at the league average. But he's got a funny way of getting there.

I don't know why I remember him calling a lot of pitches off the plate 'strikes'. If I was wrong, that is good, and should help BOS.

You're not wrong. But he also calls a lot of pitches over the plate 'balls'. He's all over the place (I remember him squeezing the hell out of Bedard in a game vs. the Sox a couple months ago). He should only have one game behind the plate, at least.

CB Bucknor is a walking beat, no matter what series he's working. He's bound to [censored] both teams eventually.
