Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
I think I like it, although it's sick when an A and K hit on the flop.

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
The fact it's a satellite bubble may actually give you PF fold equity against hands to don't want to show a flop to, like A3 or K9. Depends on how MP1's been playing. Doubling you up doesn't really put him in danger, but it's not exactly ideal either.

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
I don't like a stop n' go for a variety of reasons.
a) if they have AA or KK it's not going to matter anyway b) what are we going to do if an A or K flops? We just gave away 1/2 our chips if we fold... c) we minimize value (and the chance to probably fold into a seat, but you've already stated that) Personally I just push here (plus I don't like a SNG in general) |

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
A SnG will fold out hands on the flop that you bury, that would call off the extra chips PF.
What exactly are you trying to fold with a SnG? SnG is designed to fold better hands on the flop...you will never fold an A or K if one flops. DId he call your PF push with AKo and turn a K? SnG is bad here with QQ you want every hand to get in PF and get the extra chips. The times you fold AK on the flop "when a K or A is coming on the turn or river" is far outweighed by the times you get called by a hand you dominate PF and get extra chips combined with the times that AK misses. Also, you should (and will) get called by AK on any flop a lot anyhow. Bad, bad, bad. Regards, Woodguy |

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
If hero wins this hand, he's at 9000 in chips and can fold into the money. It doesn't matter if he misses value in the hand. What matters is maximizing the probability of winning, which includes situations where villain folds.
The stop-n-go likely folds AK, Ax and Kx when they miss the flop. Pushing preflop never folds out AK, but it may fold out, say, A5- and K8-. Assuming villain never plays those hands (or that he doesn't fold them to a push) then I'd say stop-n-go is correct. |

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
You are going to lose money with the stop-n-go in this spot. Just push PF -- he is going to call with a big ace, any pair, and possibly other cards.
You run the stop-n-go and he is possibly folding a lot of those hands on the flop that he would have called with PF and you are losing value. |

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
Is it just me or is almost everyone responding to OP not paying attention to the satellite dynamic?

I'll admit, my first instinct was going to be what were you thinking? Than I thought wait what's the catch here and reread the post.

Re: Playing QQ for a stop and go in a satellite
I see what you're trying to do...but are you afraid of the villian holding an A or K...and if so, do you still plan on SnGing on the flop?
