There's been some pretty intense latino gang action lately here in SB. But as op said the guys were black, these were most likely people from out of town here for fiesta. Thats why I dont go to fiesta late at night.

LOL @ OP rubbernecking a fight; lamest fight ever.

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh? This fight went from first punch thrown to police shootout with fatality in a crowd of hundreds in less than 40 seconds. WTF has to happen for this to break the threshold of your "lame" rating?

"Police don't fire warning shots. Police shoot...to eliminate the threat."

this doesnt make sense.

im not an american but in sweden the cops do in fact shoot warning shots.

[/ QUOTE ]

This makes perfect sense. If a man has a gun on him, and the police officer is busy firing shots up in the air,
A) He may construe those shots as being fired at him, and return fire

B) It's alot easier to shoot someone who is aiming at the air than at you.

C) Shots fired into the air don't just disappear, they have to land somewhere eventually, and can be deadly.

Police in the U.S. have to account for every bullet they fire, firing them in situations that don't require deadly force is not permitted.

What situations in Sweden are warning shots permissable?

[/ QUOTE ]

YEa seriosuly, once the gun is out the time for warnings is over.

i don't think sb has a huge crime rate or anything so i'm interested to know how often cops get to even get into these situations to fire their guns.

SB is one of the only two cities that has had the distinction of being placed under martial law in a non wartime situation.

LOL @ OP rubbernecking a fight; lamest fight ever. Actually, me and one of my buddies got into a fight a few years ago after drinking; these two morons stopped and watched us. When we were done we beat the [censored] of them. Too bad it didn't happen to you.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL @ calling a fight which ended when someone was shot and killed "lame". You're so hardcore steel.

Also what do you usually do when you see a fight? Just keep walking or look the other way? Did you read the part where there was a hundred other people watching this go down? Next you're going to tell me you would have beat all them up with one hand tied behind your back.

Yes, because firing random stray bulltes in the middle of s crowded street festival is much smarter than aiming at someone threatening w/ a gun.

There are a lot of very very very stupid people in this thread. I mean seriously, I think some of you should get checked out for mild mental retardation.

I'm thinking Los Angeles/zoot suit riot days. They had jeeps with machine guns in the streets. It was during the war, but it was just a local disturbance, no "enemy combatant" type worries.
