I like bumpkins over "city slickers," because more often than not the slickers are posers, and the bumpkins are genuine. However, you can "putter" out of Chattanooga and Bam! be in the Cherokee National Forest rafting the Ocoee. Or atop Lookout Mt. seeing 7 states and hanggliding off the brow. 2 hr drive gets you Nashville, Atlanta, and Gatlinburg.
