One of the few things I know about fashion is that showing sock is OK. Showing bare leg is a no-no.

It's a personal thing, not a fashion thing for me. I don't know. I need to grow out of it. Haha.

I'm of the belief that fashion is for the young, or the trying to get laid. At any given time, I own five shirts that I wear. My women friends know this so well, that whenever I add an additional shirt to the rotation, they notice. Not only is it that bad, but I'm a smoker and a drinker, so 90% of my shirts have a burn whole, in the exact identical spot. So noticable is this, that when I loaned a rarely worn shirt of mine to a friend, two of my women friends noticed the burn whole and immediately asked him if it was my shirt.

Familiarity, is both a beautiful and dangerous thing.

White socks with anything but white sneakers is a no-no.

Socks are supposed to match the pants btw, not the shoe. I learned that watching Queer Eye.

White socks seem fine with jeans to me.

I realize jeans and Vans aren't 'fashion,' but that statement seemed odd to me.

FWIW, I need to go buy socks that match my khakis. I only have white and black. Perhaps this contributes to my hatred of showing sock, haha.

Solo,

I've tried on many a shoe like those. They look great sitting on the shelf, but I get them on and naah. I really am a fashion retard. I think part of the problem is, with khakis off the rack(Dockers/Old Navy/Polo), the bottom of the pant covers half the shoe and just looks bad. So,I think of getting some good quality khakis and having them tailored, but now I am getting into the realm of high maintenance.

Anyone,

How should the pant fall over the shoe? Someone mentioned not bunching up, but I'm sure there is protocol.

[/ QUOTE ]

It depends on the narrowness of the bottom of the pant. Narrow, slender trousers should have less break than a fuller pant.

White socks are pretty dorky in general, but I will wear white socks with jeans and tan Airwalks. Because if you're wearing sneakers, you have to wear some kind of sport sock, you can't wear dress socks.

But I think Queer Eye was commenting on slacks/khakis/dress pants, not jeans. Basically if you're wearing khakis and black shoes, you wear beige socks, not black socks.

I'm so confused. I thought the rule was that socks have to be darker than the pants. Are beige socks ever ok? Someone give me the rules please.
