10NL - TPTK on dry board
Villain is 24/8/1 after about 80 hands.
Sucks to play OOP Was betting the turn a mistake? I suppose he could have turned a draw with QJ or AcXc, but my thought at the time was that he's either bluffing (unlikely given his AF) or he's got a monster. As played, I was getting about 3 to 1 to call his shove... comments? Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
I'd 3bet PF, call push. As played, standard. You have the best hand here most of the time IMO.

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
It would be a 4bet preflop if he was to raise. I'd probably 4bet this.

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
I'd 4bet preflop with AK anyday vs a small 3bet. With those stats I doubt villian will 3bet pf with QJ/Ax, I think he's likely to have a set, but by turn you're basically pot committed and have to call.

Thanks for the replies
What do you think is a good amount to 3-bet? Something around $2.25 to $2.50? |

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
so what did he turn over ? TT ? if that's the case then you played the hand well and he out drew you. I'm in the habit of 4betting real big/ shoving preflop as AK sucks oop and when you whif.

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
I find this advice kind of difficult. I see what you are saying but I think that most pfr hands at 10/25nl are JJ-AA... very seldom AK/TT esp from tall stacks.
I'm not a good player but I'm tended toward thinking villan either really did or didn't like turn. Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm thinking AA is quite likely pf and AA/KK/TT/AK are likely by turn. I always wonder how these guys get their stacks... either they play their tables for ages or they shove and get called on made hands imo; he musy be bluffing if he's betting that much etc. etc. .. Actually, looks like you're committed w TPTK for 21% of pot. esp w 58% equity over TT+, AK if thats his pf range. Beware the pf minraise. |

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
Sorry, my point was that pf aggro is so hard to read at 10nl. some of these people go crazy pf w air and will minraise any pf4bet for fun.
Don't you prefer to rely on the strength of the K that falls on the flop than the supposed fold equity of a semibluff w AK that is almost certain to get called / shoved over? |

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
I'm interested in the 3bet comments... 3betting isn't something I have done much without AA/KK and I think I should start incorporating it into my game more.
Suppose the hand plays out like this... Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players LegoPoker Hand History Converter BTN: $79.10 SB: $6.55 BB: $14.60 Hero (UTG): $10 CO: $35.60 Pre-Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (UTG) Hero raises to $0.40, CO calls $0.40, BTN raises to $0.70, 2 folds, Hero raises to $2.25, CO folds, BTN calls $1.55 What would be my plan now? Shove any A/K on the flop? Arg... have to go run an errand, but I post villains pocket cards when I get back. |

Re: 10NL - TPTK on dry board
having a large preflop pot reduces the profitability for hands like 99-JJ, set mining also becomes negative EV when you get a large portion (one tenth+) of your stack in preflop. in the last situation you posted, AA and to a lesser extent KK are all we really have to worry about on that flop afaik which gives us a little more piece of mind getting it in on the flop/turn.
yes no any comments ? |
