The Fat Duck is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in the world, not to mention London. If you want a high end place, this one might be for you. I haven't been there, but have heard from two friends whose opinions I respect that it's amazing.

For ethnic eats, you'll find plenty of great Indian food. Here's an article with some recs.

Only problem with the Fat Duck is that it is actually 40 miles from central London (and v hard to get reservations). I've been there twice and it is great, though. the food is nearly as good at Tom Aiken, it is central and much easier to get a reservation.

Both of those curry places in the article you quote are very good. however, both are places with no ambience some distance from the center of town (Lahore Kebab House less so). If you want really good Indian centrally at a reasonable price Rasa on Dering St is excellent.

Oh - and a bar suggestion. Go and drink a martini at Dukes Hotel on St James Place. Not cheap (think GBP10-15), but the best martini I have ever drunk and a classic old British atmosphere.
