Odds of various lows coming
Once upon a time someone posted a link to a series of articles/discussions about how often you will make the nut low with certain starting cards. I think this was at least a three part series, maybe even four. I'm not sure who the author was but it was very much in depth and had some charts. Does anyone know what I am talking about and can they post a link?
If this isn't on Greg's website it should be. Thx. |

Re: Odds of various lows coming
Found it from a link to a site with articles on Greg's website. This is the chart I was referring to, in is in a 5 part series by Brian Alspach from Poker Digest.

I don't know if it is Kosher to link to the site for competition reasons, but if you run though the internet section of 08poker.com you will find it.

Re: Odds of various lows coming
the sites aren't competitors. greg links his site all the time, and it doesn't exist to make profit.

Re: Odds of various lows coming
I believe you're thinking of Prof. Brian Alspach's website. He wrote a whole series of math related poker articles that he republished on his website here. The stuff with the Omaha Hi/Low probabilties is entitled, "Low Board Blues."

Re: Odds of various lows coming
I'd be careful with charts like that. You're mostly interested in how often you'll flop the nut low, and how often you can profitably draw to the nut low when you don't flop it (but need to improve to win). In a practical sense you don't really care about how often you make the nut low by the river with something like 23.
IMO if you can calculate outs and discount based on rough probabilities of improving to a quartered hand or having your outs in opponents hands, you'll be much much much better off than you would be following some chart or hot/cold equity analysis. |
