I'm used to playing in casinos, but that doesn't strike me as being outrageous. And in casinos, the rake in stud is sometimes higher because they get out fewer hands in an hour. For example, at Canterbury Park, all stud games through $15/30 are raked at 10%, whereas it's 5% for hold'em $6/12 through $15/30. Also, the rake in very small stud games is capped at $4.50 as opposed to $4 in all hold'em games.

Who cares about the rake, anyway? Are you making money?

I'd rather play on Pokerstars, the ante structure is better and the rake is capped at 50ct. With Party's 25ct ante this amount of rake should be reached there every hand, so rake at Stars should be way cheaper.

im winning at a rate of 5bb/100, but i think ill play my stud games somewhere else because of the high rake and because the player pool is very small and there arent a lot of games running beyonf 0.5/1

I didn't make the connection when you first posted this, but perhaps the best reason not to play in Party's $.50/1.00 game is that the structure is so screwy that it should skew your perception of how poker is played. Just don't think that you're going to be winning 5 BB/100 in some other game.

I was playing on Boss the other day - 5/10 Stud HU. That was fun - if it hit 5th street, you'd automatically hit the $3 max range - and as Boss is fish city, it meant we were basically playing $3 a hand. Estimate 100 hands an hour and thats 15BB an hour I am paying

No. I believe that the last $15/30 stud game there was September or October, 2003.
