Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
What is a typical bankroll for a multitabler? I just got a new monitor to 4 table and lost 6.5 buyins in 3-4 hours. I had many brutal bad beats. I keep thinking long term, but my PT stats are starting to tell me I suck over 13000 hands.
Is that many hands? |

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
20 to 50 times the buy in is the usual stake.
Being new to multi tabling, go down one level until you can make it pay there, then move back up. the learning curve is less expensive that way. 13,000 hands is marginal from all i have gathered re PT. None the less, if you suck, suck it up by tightening up. You might post your stats for more detailed comments in this regard. There is a very recent post where many players posted their PT stats & discussed their results. I was reading it about a week ago, so yuou shouldn't have to page back too far to find it. As i recall : $vp$ip 18-30 is good $pfr 8-20 is good total aggression : 2-3???but not too sure now Hope this helps. |

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
just an idea, but is it possible for us to keep the bankroll questions in the same thread? I don't mean to nit, I just think it'd be cool if we kept them in a somewhat comprehensive thread.

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
as long as you are not playing so many tables that your play deteriorates you should not need any more than you need for one table. if your win rate per table goes down very much you may need slightly more but as long as you are still beating the game you should not need much more.

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
Find out if you suck. The general rule is that you should be winning at least 8 PTBB/100 at $25NL (less at higher limits) to be considered a reasonably good player. If not, maybe you're not quite ready to multitable yet. Alternatively, if you're "sucking" at the $100NL tables, try multitabling at the $50NL or $25NL -- you might actually increase your winrate per hour. Then, when you get comfortable with it, you can move up in stakes again without all the bleeding-of-the-money stuff.

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
Thanks for the advice here, I was crushing 50NL just playing one or two tables, and I was successful at 100NL just playing 1 or two tables. I never caught cards every time I moved to 200NL. I think that moving back to 50NL until I'm comfortable is the best idea for now. If the downward trend sees no end, then i'm gonna walk with the couple grand I made and get a J O B.

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
Multitabling should lead to much much less variance, so you should do ok with the usual 30 buy-in

Re: Just started multitabling. Bankroll question
Yeah I thought multitabling would be more dependable, but when you get out carded at all the tables you are playing its bad news.
