Default Lunar Legend Tsukihime Info/Sign-up Thread (Starts 2/22)

(This may or may not be an exercise in how many games POG can run at once before collapsing.)

The theme for this game is based off of the Japanese visual novel (also turned into an anime, manga, and a couple of spin-off videogames -- gogo marketing) Tsukihime. For anyone that really cares, an English translation of the novel can be downloaded from mirrormoon.org (you will still need to own the original version, which is out-of-print but can be found online... somewhere).

For those that don't care, it's basically a story about vampires, schoolgirls, and vampire schoolgirls that can get needlessly convoluted at points. The actual setup here for the vanillagers is that the town of Misaki (somewhere between here and there, but most certainly somewhere in Japan) has been terrorized by a freak string of murders, which have been occurring at a more frequent rate. While a lot of the power characters behind the scenes have their own motivations for stopping these attacks (it's bad business for the Tohno family to work in a dead town, several people have been hunting the principles behind the attacks for hundreds of years, etc.), the townspeople just do not want to all become lunch.

Summary
There are villagers. Quite a few of them have powers.
There are no wolves, but vampires and other assorted baddies instead (interestingly enough, all of the demons are on the village side, hurf).

Villagers (~18):
-Combo vigilante/seer (but only can do 1 a night)
-Queen (extra vote/imperial privilege)
-Person Which Can Not Be Killed
-Vigilante (who also only dies under specific conditions)
-Protector (of the main character)
-Role blocker
-Seer
-10ish vanillagers

Wolves (~6):
-Vigilante (who takes two kills to eliminate)
-Seer
-Mad Scientist (kind of like an evil MacGuyver, but with prepared tools)
-Post-mortem Role Stealer
-Pseudo-miller
-Robot

Game Flow and House Rules
Days will start at roughly 10 AM EDT.

Each player will have a single vote to determine who dies during the day.

Vote counts will be made available, but there are no scheduled times. They will be more frequent as we approach the deadline.

The day/night deadline is at 9 PM (roughly -- this may change depending on what other games running at this time have). People will then have thirty minutes after deadline to either use any possible powers or to contest the vote count.

Night actions are due by 9 AM EDT.

The village wins when all of the villains have been eliminated. The villains win when it becomes mathematically impossible for all of them to be eliminated (this does NOT mean just a simple voting majority).

Most of the standard POG rules for werewolf variants will be followed. Some notes:

-Votes must be made clear, using the phrase "vote <username>", in bold, on a seperate line. Bolded names in the middle of a sentence will not count. Votes in quotes will not count.
-Unvoting and revoting are both allowed.
-There is no restriction on role-claims.
-You are allowed one zero-content post after dying. Jopkes are fine, cats are fine too, but no actual content.
-All moderator decisions are final. If you still have a problem, take it up with me either privately or in the discussion thread (if available), NOT in the game thread.

Role information (those alignedL with the town):

[types are listed first (for Shiki's peeks), then peeks from Sion and Nero]

Shiki Tohno (human, peeks as Shiki Tohno/town resident)

Just your standard high-school student... who has the ability to destroy nearly anything. Surprisingly, he acts nothing like someone with such great power (from both his supernatural powers and family heritage).

In-game abilities:

Once every night (except the first night!), he can either peek a target (learning its type, NOT their role outright) or kill them outright.
His kill blows through any angel-like protection the target may have, even Arcueid's invincibility (but not Ciel's).

Akiha Tohno (human/demon, peeks as Akiha/Akiha)

Heir to the Tohno family, Shiki's younger sister. Constantly busy between schoolwork, family affairs, and trying to control the demonic powers eating away at her body.

In-game abilities:

Her vote counts as two votes during the day (being the head of the most powerful family in town and all).
Once throughout the course of the game, she can redirect the target during the day to anyone she chooses, including nobody.
Knows who Shiki Tohno is.

Arcueid Brunestud (human?, peeks as Arcueid/Arcueid)

A 'True Ancestor' (one who originally born a vampire)... but she hates blood, walks around during midday wearing all white, and befriends humans. Weird. She's also spent the last several hundred years hunting other vampires, most notably Roa.

Normally a being with an absurd amount of power (and could handle most of this situation herself), but after being nearly obliterated by Shiki, she can't do much on her own. Then again, almost no one can do anything to her still...

In-game abilities: Can not be killed by natural means. If targeted at night, the kill fails. If targeted during the day, she distorts reality to change the target to one of her own choosing. She can elect to change it to nobody in this instance.

She can be killed by either Shiki Tohno or Roa if they target her at night.

Ciel (human, peeks as Ciel/Ciel)

Seen by most as a high school senior, but is in actuality an agent of the Church's Burial Agency (their wetworks operation, used to deal with high-risk undesirables). Her main objective is to eliminate Roa (whose existence is what has kept her alive for the last several hundred years), but has the freedom to eliminate anyone seen as a threat to this objective.

Has an unhealthy obsession for curry, and designs her own outfits to fight in during her spare time. French.

In game abilities:

May attempt to kill one person during every night phase. She does not have to exercise this ability.
Can not die via normal means. If she is targeted at night, the kill fails. If lynched during the day, the lynch fails. However, she loses her powers for one full day/night cycle when someone tries to kill her.
Dies once Roa dies.
Eats curry (does nothing).

Hisui (human, peeks as Tohno Family Maid/Hisui)

Shiki's personal maid and Kohaku's identical twin. Absolutely loyal to him since a tragic accident occurred to him several years ago, which also scarred her emotionally.

Just don't let her cook for you.

In game abilities:

If she is alive at the beginning of any night phase and Shiki is targeted for death, she dies in his place. These deaths stack, so if both she and Shiki die the same night, only she dies, even if multiple people target Shiki.

Sion Eltnam Atlastia (human?, peeks as Sion/Sion)

High-ranking official of the Atlas Academy, highly skilled with Technically a vampire, but has managed to suppress the effects via magic.

Tends to be an elitist bitch. Bisexual.

In game abilities:

Seer, can peek one target per night (starting night 0).

Len (succubus, peeks as Len/Len)

Arcueid's succubus familiar. Also has the ability to turn into a cat, which is fine too.

Doesn't say anything because she has nothing to say, and because silence is so moe. (The actual player with this role can say whatever they want, though).

In game abilities:

Can role-block one target per night. Will work on all targets except Mech-Hisui (robots only dream of electric sheep).

Arcueid's and Ciel's invincibility can not be role-blocked, nor can daytime powers.

Kouma Kishima (death, peeks as Kouma/Kouma)

Eldest son of the Kishima family (a subfamily of the Tohnos) and works as hired muscle for the Tohnos. Absolutely insane and a total jackass, to the point where he destroyed most of his own family.

Shiki sees him as the face of death in random nightmares...

In game abilities:

Not really an ability of his, but if Shiki peeks him at night, Kouma dies instantly.

Kouma knows who he is (he may not know much else unrelated to smashing things, but he knows this).

Villagers:

There are ~10 villagers, all named, but they have no special powers nor are they given names. They are told they are a human resident of the town of Misaki.

[n]Role information (villains):[/b]

Roa (human?, peeks as Shiki Tohno/Roa)

The unnumbered Dead Apostle. An absolute nutbag, he keeps reincarnating trying to achieve absolute immortality and to overtake (and ultimately destroy) Arcueid.

In-game abilities:

Takes an extra night kill per night (except the first night) (on top of the normal night kill the villians get).
Must be killed twice in order to die unless targeted by Shiki the first time around. If the first death is from a day lynch, no one dies that day.

Nero Chaos (vampire, peeks as Nero/Nero)

Dead Apostle #10. Not really a singular person but the manifestation of the six hundred and sixty six creatures absorbed, all sharing a common (lack of) conscinous.

This name is the assumed name given from the Church from the Roman emperor with the equally brutal personality.

In-game abilities:

Seer, can peek one target per night (starting on night 1).

Kohaku (human, peeks as Tohno Family Maid/Kohaku)

Akiha's personal maid and twin sister of Hisui. However, behind her disgustingly cheery attitude lies a festering desire for revenge, brought on mainly by fifteen years of perpetual abuse from the family she worked for. She also serves as the family's cook and doctor.

Plays videogames in her spare time, with her favorite games being the various Grand Theft Auto and Deception games, along with Paperboy (what?).

In-game abilities:

Has an assortment of strange devices and drugs to use on unwitting targets. All of them can only be used once through the game (unless stated otherwise), and she can use only one item per night.

- [Silence] -- Some medicine that causes the victim's to swell up to the point where they can't speak. (Can be used twice)
- [Protection] -- So much goddamn adrenaline the target can withstand far more abuse than normal. Will protect someone from a night kill attempt (unless it's from Shiki).
- [Ninja] -- Some weird device that will temporarily swap the location of two people. Don't ask how it works.
- [Death] -- An old bento box Hisui made; will kill someone outright.

Silenced characters can submit a vote in writing (read: via PM) to the game mod. If they actually try to talk that day, their throat explodes in a nice shower of gore and they're dead. She can target herself with protection or ninja abilities.

Kohaku does not have to die for the town to win. If she is the last villain left standing, she commits ritual suicide at the beginning of the next phase.

Walachia (vampire, peeks as Walachia/Walachia)

Dead Apostle #13. The former head of the Atlas Academy, and the great-great-great-great-great*N grandfather of Sion.

Utterly metrosexual.

In-game abilities:

Can steal one ability from someone that died that night each night (to be used once)

Satsuki Yumiduka (vampire, peeks as town resident/town resident)

Childhood friend of Shiki's, who was attacked by Roa one night while he was hunting but somehow survived the attack, turning into a vampire herself. While normal humans can't tell the difference now, she is now cursed to wandering around at night looking to feed off of victims to keep herself alive.

The odds of surviving a vampire attack (and becoming one yourself) are roughly 1 in 10,000. Good beat or bad?

In-game abilities:

None, unless having obfuscated peeks counts. Isn't it sad, Sacchin? :3

Mech-Hisui (robot, peeks as Mech-Hisui/Mech-Hisui)

A creation of Kohaku's, originally deigned to protect (and replace, in that unfortunate circumstance) her sister, and as such has been equipped with 43634643 ways of killing someone (eye beams, flamethrowers, rockets, etc.), all of which randomly fail. Mech-Hisui is neither good nor evil, but since she follows Kohaku's commands...

Plays online role-playing games during its idle time (since it's a bot and all... okay, that was terrible).

In-game abilities:

Can 'check' one character per night to see if their role claim is as advertised. This comes back as a yes/no answer. Villager is a possible role-claim to be checked. Mech-Hisui gets these checks at the end of the game phase they were requested.

Notes/Errata
This looks to be a fairly high variance game, with two kills at night on each side. Six enemies seems like a lot (just a little more than 2 villagers for every wolf), but the village also has two night kills, two seers, and two invincible characters.

This is designed to be played fairly fast (which I think is a problem with a lot of the games now -- they're balanced 'at face' but the longer a game runs the bigger the advantage tends to run for the village), but my concern is that

I am against having multiple day/night phases in a day unless the decision to do so is from a clear majority, and everyone with a night action can send them in on a compressed time frame.

I have not decided if weekends will be 1 or 2 game days. Probably 1, due to the game speed.
