Proper application of Clarkmeister?
Proper application of Clarkmeister? Comments also welcomed on other streets...
Ultimate Bet .5/1 Hold'em (Full Ring) Preflop: OrigamiSensei is MP1 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, OrigamiSensei raises, 3 folds, Villain 3-bets, 2 folds, OrigamiSensei calls. OS SEZ> I have had several early position raises fold around. This is the first time villain has 3-bet me but he has been aggro enough otherwise to make me thing he'll do this if he picks up a decent hand so I'm mentally extending his range to include hands like AQ, AJ, maybe a suited KQ. Flop: (7.5 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) OrigamiSensei checks, Villain bets, OrigamiSensei raises, Villain calls. OS SEZ> Not sure if this is silly or not. Turn: (5.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) OrigamiSensei bets, Villain calls OS SEZ> Okay, this look like overcards now. River: (7.75BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) OrigamiSensei bets, Villain raises, OrigamiSensei folds OS SEZ> Clarkmeister. |

Re: Proper application of Clarkmeister?
I like it. A lot. I may donk the flop, but a C/R never hurt anyone. I lean towards a C/R if he's aggro, and donk if he's more passive.

Re: Proper application of Clarkmeister?
Well, oen of the advantages of the clarkmister is that villan may fold a better hand to the river bet and sometimes wont raise with a hand that you are behind, if he does raise you are sure you are behind.
I think in this hand, villan definatly wont be folding a hand that beats you because I don't think he has a small spade or an overpair, in fact you say yourself after the turn that it looks like overcards. He will either have a big spade and call or raise or fold a non-sapde overcard hand. |

Re: Proper application of Clarkmeister?
Oh, as for the rest of the hand.
I like the flop c/r. I figure you follow with a bet/fold turn. So I guess I don't really have a good play on the river, I don't like bet/fold for the reasons in my last post. You can probably nearly justify a check/call on the pot size. I'm not good at poker. |

If he's smart and ballsy enough to bluff-raise me off the hand then "nice hand" to villain. |

Re: Proper application of Clarkmeister?
I ask this after reading Performance Poker (as a newbie, no less), so forgive my question: why did you call that 3-bet before the flop? Two raises would put him on a high pair, wouldn't it?

[/ QUOTE ] Neku, What are the pot odds to OS after the villian threebets? What are the odds of flopping a set? And, finally, are you really suggesting we raise/fold a hand pf?!?!? If you ever do this (outside of misclick scenarios), Tyler will bitch slap you. -J |

Re: Proper application of Clarkmeister?
As I said, I've just read Performance Poker. But anyway, if I (newbie) raise JJ and someone raises me, I fold. They have a high pair, I don't.
This is probably wrong in many different ways. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes. Yes it is. Please do the math to answer the first two questions. Secondly, people don't always play like you. If I were sitting to your left and saw you raise/fold pf, I would be treying you with soooooo many hand. Just because someone threebets your pfr, you can't assume that you are beat, or even behind at that point. -J |
