Re: Funny Sklansky story
I once played a $540 Limit HE STS with a guy that looked a lot like Sklansky, but I don't think it was him. He seemed to be a regular and had an attitude. Maybe you were mistaken and it was that guy.

Re: Funny Sklansky story
I don't know DS personally, so this is a possibility. Maybe it was a guy who looked just like him. Maybe the guy did just happen to also dress in a polo that looked like it came out of the laundry bag like David has been known to do. Maybe it was just coincidence that the guy answered to David when people spoke to him. Maybe the guy had the same nervous look and walk and mannerisms that DS has exhibited. There is always that possibility that it was some random regular who looked like DS and had an attitude and the 20+ guys at the front of the lines who were laughing were simply mistaken, as was I. Doesn't really matter, just thought it was an amusing little story, as much about the gal running the sats as about the guy it happened to.

then it would have been much more believable. [/ QUOTE ] No, it would what have been much more believable if it were possible to corroborate. It is not a matter of believing what I want. It's a matter of believing who is the most trust worthy. I know David Sklansky, I do not believe that he would lie about something like this. He might ignore it but I doubt he would respond unless he did so honestly. You on the other hand? Who knows what your motive is or even who you are? You have no credibility. You tell a story of which the only value is to discredit Sklansky and paint him in a bad light. You call it funny but you know it would be demeaning if it were true. Sklansky says it isn't true. You the accuser have not an iota of proof other than your take on what you think happened. I'll go with honest David and his response not yours. You don't even acknowledge that there is a slight chance that maybe you didn't get it exactly right. It happened as you say and that's that. Who in their right mind would believe you. No one except for someone in tune with your way of thinking. Your way of trying to discredit someone famous like Sklansky. People like you do not need proof. Gossip is enough to keep the small mind entertained. pokervintage |

[/ QUOTE ] You really have a vivid memory for something that happened a few years ago. I'm surprised you left out the color of the shirt and the color of the shirts of the people who referred to him as David. |

Re: Funny Sklansky story
No one in their right mind could possibly think that this story could demean, discredit or paint in a bad light David Sklansky nearly so much as some of the things that are written here or that he acknowledges himself. I would have to consider myself and my entertainment value much more important than feasible if I thought that this story could possibly have that sort of impact. As I said, the story is a couple of years old. There could be some errors; maybe not everyone screamed in laughter, maybe the redhead isn't quite 6 foot, maybe the exact verbage wasn't as recounted. The basic story was retold as remembered. The only people I know who could substantiate it are complete strangers or friends who only know the story from my telling it. After your stand-up defense of DS, I have to remain open to the other possibilities. The guy could have been some imposter who gets off on pretending to want to get into 1K satellites just to discredit an obscure poker writer who most of the real world don't give two [censored] about. Maybe the cocktail waitress slipped a hallucinogen into my beer and i imagined it all while standing in line. Maybe I have so little of a real life that I sat around for hours trying to come up with a story specifically to embarrass some guy I don't know and this was the best I could come up with. This is so meanial in the overall scope of life, jeez.

Re: Funny Sklansky story
Since I'm relatively new to the forum, I'm not sure what "ban" means in this particular context, but if there is some sort of procedure that accompanies it, don't bother. A friend referenced the forum and I found it amusing and interesting. Certainly not important enough for me to spend this much time and or energy defending something so stupid. Ban me, delete it, whatever makes the most sense to whoever the powers that be are. Life is too short and time is too valuable. Later.
