Default Is this a good deal for my new desktop??

Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought about this computer I am thinking of getting. I will be of course using it for multitabling poker but also storing lots of music, photos, and possibly movies (both watching and editing). Also, right now there are no coupons for this machine besides free ground shipping. Are there any coupons out for this machine that come and go and will be here soon?

Also, what are your opinions on my upgraded sound card. It costs $100 to upgrade to it...do you think it is worth it?

No.

Build the same computer specs here: www.cyberpowerpc.com and see how much money you save.

As far as the sound card goes...What are you plugging into that speaker spot? Are your speakers uber leet to make the extra sound card worth it? I have my computer hooked up to my TV and use the onboard sound card to plug into my reciever. But I use headphones for gaming a lot, so I might be a bad source.

Oh and that case weighs A TON.

You dont actually build it, they build it for you. Its just like DELL but cheaper. Check out the site, they have packages that are pre-made.

But thinking on your original post, YES that computer will be fine for you. You shouldnt have to update anything on it for a good 4 to 6 years.

In my opinion....there is no possible way I'm paying $1,700 for a desktop pc in the year 2007 unless I'm doing major video editing. Do you really need 4 GB of RAM? While it's sweet that is ALOT of RAM! I know you said something about editing movies but are we talking ripping DVD's, importing home movies etc? If so, you can get by with alot less of a computer.

Let me put it like this, no I don't think it's a good deal, but I'm also curious why you need such a beast of a mchine. If money is no object then this discussion is pointless, go get it because that would be a sweet rig and one I'd be jealous of it. But a "good deal" on a machine to play poker, rip DVD's and do the normal stuff we all do? It's over kill and too expensive.

The Power PC and ibuypower.com sites are definitely going to be somewhat cheaper for having a customized machine like that built, you should give them a look.
