I really like The Power of One- Original score composed by Hans Zimmer and performed by South African musicians. It also contains some traditional African songs. Very heavy on the percussion and, imo, the louder the better. [/ QUOTE ] Good choice. The soundtrack really supported the theme of the movie quite well. |

The soundtrack to the original Matrix movie was very good. I used this soundtrack as a springboard to many other bands and styles that I wasn.t familiar with.
I agree with many mentioned but would also add: Get Shorty, When Harry Met Sally, Spinal Tap, Rocky Horror Picture Show. |

In terms of original music scores one of my absolute favorites is that of The Last of the Mohicans. It's an absolute shame it wasn't even nominated for an Oscar.

Well, there's a great one that belongs to a [censored]-ass movie. Godzilla. It was pure [censored]' filler. Some of the tracks:
Rage - No Shelter Puff Daddy w/ Jimmy Page - Come With Me Wallflowers - Heroes Fuel - Walk the Sky Green Day - Brain Stew (Godzilla Remix) Plus some cool stuff by Jamiroquai, Ben Folds Five, Foo Fighters, Silverchair, and some good instrumental stuff too. |

O Brother, Where Art Thou - An excellent, excellent collection of works from the country/bluegrass genre (also some plantation spirituals too). Ignoring the everso annoying "In the Highways" by Sarah, Hannah & Leah Peasall, this album is superb. Utterly superb. And meshes with the film fantastically. [/ QUOTE ] Completely agreed! I saw this movie and had to go out and get the soundtrack ASAP. I even agree that the entire thing is awesome (with the exception of In the highways). I thought this was an amazing adaptation of the Odyssey and the music really did make the film as good as it was. |

Anyway, some others I haven't seen mentioned: Forrest Gump, Resevior Dogs and another of my wifes fav's Immortal Beloved. |

Not exactly what I think you're looking for, but I'm going to have to nominate Team America: World Police. I can't think of a better integrated, funnier soundtrack, and all the songs are originals for the movie.
Montage, Pearl Harbor Sucks, I'm So Ronery, great stuff from start to finish. |

Requiem for a Dream.
One of the most emotionally intense movies I've ever seen, and it could not have done it without it's amazing soundtrack. The music was so good, LOTR stole it. Don't believe me? |
