Sorry, I'm taking their blinds all day. The difference in payouts for MTTs on Stars for 1st and 2nd is usually quite a bit of money, so if I have a better chance to get 1st then I am taking it.

It really depends on whether or not the player and I have a good rapport. If the guy and I have been going at it verbally, I will steal his blinds till the cows come home and then type "LMAO" when he re-connects. If the guy and I have been friendly, or if i know the player, I will wait as long as humanly possible. In a neutral situation, I will give him 2 minutes to reconnect.

Basically, if you don't give the guy a few minutes to disconnect, you're acting like a piece of [censored]. That doesn't mean I'll always wait, but there's no reason to sugarcoat what you're doing. You're stealing money from a guy who can't defend himself.

It's a hell of a lot more unethical than playing multiple accounts in a tourney, which has very little effect on anybody's EV.

I have no major ethical problem with (other people doing) it, and I would expect someone to do it to me if I disced, but I wouldn't do it unless I were in a rush. STTs I definitely would for the reasons curtains elaborated on.

The site gives them time to reconnect, i dont see how it's unethical at all for me to play on. Maybe the site doesnt give quite enough time, so i think i'd often give em a couple extra minutes, but i see nothing wrong if i didnt do that.

this happened to me the other day in a SNG. The chip leader disconnected and I could steal his BB at will. I was stupid and actually pushed a hand and got called by the live person who sucked out on me. Aftewards, I thought I really screwed up, because I should have just siphoned his Blinds until he was gone.

There is no moral dilemna here. He disconnected and that is his problem, life goes on. This isn't the Tour de France and the leader just had a flat tire.

I would laugh and take them all to victory.

I usually give them a couple minutes, by which I mean "I stall when I'm on the button until my time almost runs out, then I take the blinds." I feel like this is a reasonable approach.
This has maybe happened once in an MTT to me and it didn't take long before the guy returned anyway.

Here's an interesting twist on this situation: Say you're heads up at the WSOP and your opponent gets a 10-minute penalty for dropping an F-bomb. I don't know how they treat this, exactly, but assuming they go ahead and deal hands and post blinds, etc., what are you doing? Stalling at all? Insta-raising? I'm rather curious.

Stealing and then when the penalty is close to over i would probably take a crap on these rest of his chips so when he gets back he will just give them to me out of disgust. Norman Chad then they would probably call me the mad crapper or something but i would have a bracelet and could say that mr world champ mad crapper to you buddy.

I know, I know, every poker player feels that they have been screwed over in the past and so it is only fitting that they get to be the ones doing the screwing sometimes. It is the same feelings which cause us to call PF because we are pissed off that this guy cracked our aces 10 hands ago. Forget "deserve", forget "entitled", these concepts will only cause you pain.

[/ QUOTE ]
I think you're misunderstanding what we mean when we say that we deserve it becuase its happened before in the past. Its not a matter of revenge or anything like that. Its a matter of balancing out the variance that comes with these DC situations. I 'deserve' it not because I feel bad about something that happened to me in the past, but because I EXPECT others to do the same to me.

It's really not analogous because a penalty is different from a misfortune that prevents you from playing.
