Whats the difference Dog fighting vs Hunting
Ok, obviously they are different, but why is one illegal? From the way I see it they are pretty damn alike from a morals type stand point. Both are done primarily for human enjoyment, and both occur in nature to a different degree.
Dog Fighting: Done for human enjoyment, Also a form of gambling (which isnt illegal). Hunting: Done for human enjoyment, Can be done for food (an asset, like money), Can be done for decoration (an asset, like money). So far they are relatively the same. In the Wild Dog fighting: animals do fight often, for turf, mating, and certain animals wrestle/"horse play" for fun. Hunting: There are many animals that live off killing other animals. (aka hunting). Why is one illegal and a felony in 48 states, where as one is perfectly fine? State the difference and show me why Dog fighting is worse or not. |

Re: Whats the difference Dog fighting vs Hunting
Well in dogfights the dogs tend to suffer more, die slower/more cruelly... hunting the idea is to kill the animal quickly and precisely.
I do neither though, but I think the comparison you're trying to make is sort of like "why is shooting an enemy soldier okay, but forcing two of them to fight to the death in a cage not ok?" |

Dogs are fluffy and cute and our pets, therefore it's wrong.

[/ QUOTE ] If you are solely talking about hunting for sport (and not for sustenance) then I could say that dogs have been domesticated, and deer haven't. Then you could say that [censored] (lol) aren't domesticated, so why is cockfighting illegal? Then I'd retort, and you'd retort and we'd get nowhere. Plus dog/[censored] fighting also comes with a gambling element, which is not rampant (and the sole priority) in hunting, whether for food or sport.. |

Can be done for food (an asset, like money [/ QUOTE ] Since when is a basic need of survival an asset like money? I'm not naive enough to think that every hunter eats their kill, but I'd say a good majority does. Just like there's still many people in this world that survives on hunting for their food. |

Re: Whats the difference Dog fighting vs Hunting
Obviously hunting is perfectly fine, I have nothing against it. I think that its grat if people do it for food, and I think its cool if you do it cuz you like killing animals too. I dont think anything is wrong w/ dog or [censored] fighting. Its not very different then squashing a bug. (end result = dead animal/bug).

[ QUOTE ] Can be done for food (an asset, like money [/ QUOTE ] Since when is a basic need of survival an asset like money? [/ QUOTE ] Money can be used to buy food, thats what I meant. If somebody says "here is 10 hot dogs" or somebody says "here is 2.50 go buy 10 hot dogs" its the same isnt it? |
