The key part is the rest of that sentence. I would never do this against competent opponents. In the opening rounds of a Stars MTT (Buyin <$5) I will get someone calling at least 80% of the time, maybe more.

Well, you can learn to be a $5 expert your whole life or you can actually learn how to play against competent opponents.

I wish that OP had posted buyin (and while we are at it, no results) to confirm this, but I'm willing to bet that at the stakes and stage of the tourney we are at, we are not up against competent opponents, so we should adjust our play accordingly.

If I am faced with a table with at least 3 calling stations at it, I'm not wasting any time, I'm getting their stack before someone else does.
