If you are successful at poker, quality of life is far higher than at Goldman, don't you agree? Selling yourself for a souless corp like that doesn't really sound very fun.

there is pros and cons to both, in the end you have to look at both of them as jobs, anything else and it doesn't work

Actually the reality is the exact opposite of what you think.

Read some interviews with Ellix Powers, that's probably the reality of pro poker for most. Unless you think you're the next online wizard.

i was a day trader and i know that what your saying is [censored], working for sachs or any other large firm becomes your whole life. And if you don't treat it as such then you don't get very far, that being putting in like 60-70 hour work week for a long time...there is also a HUGE ethical difference between trading and gambling.

first most corporations are cold heartless machines, they will walk over the dead for that extra dollar.

when you play poker its a a skill/luck game, you both know the risks and all you risk is each others money. its not like investing in Haliburton or shell.

they actually rape countries..and thats just the tip of the iceburg, but hey if you can wash the blood off and sleep better then newborns then go for it.

Ellix Powers is a former crack addict with little education and obviously an addictive personality, and you think most of the players who go pro will end up penniless and homeless like him? That's some assumption.

Ellix is the reality of a homeless dude who happens to play poker.

Ellix apparently blew through his $30k or $40k or whatever his WSOP score was. He could easily have used that money to get cleaned-up, get a job, get going in life...whatever.

I suspect Ellix would even blow through $1-million or even $10-million if he were somehow fortunate enough to win/be given that much money.
In fact, I would be kind of surprised if he actually didn't blow it all.

You say that as if there arent tons of people here who are "pros", living the good life.

Ellix powers isnt a professional poker player. DUCY? No?

The nature of the industry is such that a layman cant tell the difference.
