Default beat: my internet won\'t work at hotel, help me?

I'm able to use the ethernet connection on pokerstars but literally nothing else works with the connection. I'm using the wireless downstairs atm to write this. Anyone had this problem before? ty in advance, please help [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

try being less of a nerd and dont spend your time in the hotel. the big yellow circle in the skiy - its not actually a demon god out to eat your soul, its called the sun, its good for you.

open up the command prompt. Type:

Ping 4.2.2.2
Ping www.google.com

If the first comes up but not the 2nd, then you have a DNS issue. This should give you a place to start when freaking out on the hotel employees

it's unlikely to be a dns issue if it works in the lobby

i think they just don't like australians so they flipped the "broken internet" switch on his room

Given that he probably has 2 separate "network connections", one for the motherboard based ethernet port and one for the wireless card that can each have different DNS settings I think its quite possible. If he can access say PS and FT but not web surf its probably DNS related. Prop bet? [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
