Default $1/$2 Hand from a stud noob

2 questions: Should I be capping 3rd here? Also, is the call on 4th correct? Would it be still correct if I hadn't capped 3rd? The guy with the 8 up is pretty tight and decent, the call-capper on 3rd is a pretty bad fish.

The 4th street call seems kinda fishy, you say seat 7 is a tight player, what are you puting him on here? The only hand he has that you can play against is AA, seeing that that's what you have, you're drawing slim. I say you've got to pitch it, especially for two cold bets. (Andy B would call this hand down to the river)

You should not be capping third. You are giving away your strength. Unless the other players are asleep at the wheel (since it is 1/2 they probably are) they have to know you don't have split 9's. They know you have a wired huge pair or are rolled up. Drop the hammer 4th or 5th.

Raise 4th to try to get the other hand out

I hit an 8 on 4th though, making rolled 8s a little bit less likely, no?

In $1/2, I cap third and call fourth. Why not?

Having said this, I played Stars $1/2 last night for the first time and it's substantially tougher than Prima, where I'd raise fourth against most players, most of the time.

Given the 3rd street action and the limits you have to see 5th.

There generally aren't many streets of betting explosions in stud (hi only)...so it shouldn't cost you too much draw to 2 pair.

The reason why I posted the hand is because I thought that drawing to 2 pair might not even be enough given the action (and yes, of course, I'm fully aware all the 9s are live)

I'd probably 3 bet 4th.. If he is rolled, those are the breaks. Its like having KK when your opponnent has AA in hold'em, all u can do is hope you suck out.

It might not be. But it will be often enough to be profitable. You have a monkey padding the pot and your Aces are live (or in the other guys hand).

Being vulnerable to an AA vs rolled hand combo isn't a big gap in your game.

Hero didn't put in the cap.

But this advice is sound...altough not applicable, espically given that there are 2 Kings out. In that case your ranges is EXACTLY 999 or AA9
