Their normal daily tourney is $45+$20. I think the nightly tourney is $100+$30.

or am I just retarded and that sick vig is normal for live poker?

I'm pretty sure these are standard for live tournaments.

Not many good players play in the tournaments at CAZ. Only the few big tournaments each year attract the better players.

The structure sucks in these too. Blinds go up really fast and if you don't make the final 3 it's not really worth the time.

Canterbury started these this year. Mondays and Fridays (2-10p?) when there isnt something else going on.

45+10 and 90+10. They play like on-line turbos. Low starting chips, blinds move up fast.

Still they have their own regulars. People that you almost never see at the cash games. There is some cross traffic. Its a big room (34 tables) so anything that helps fill it up on slow days is good. Thursdays used to be completely dead outside of horse racing season, now not so bad.

I've been asking that for years. For a long while $1,500 was added to the prize pool. I'm guessing that that money came out of the jackpot funded promotion pool but at least it was there. Then they started selling 20 alternate seats and not adding $300 more to the pool. I pointed that out and got shrugs. Now they've stopped adding in anything and some players justify it by pointing to the points playoff and the trips and seats that get awarded, etc, etc. A good friend of mine says he doesn't give a damn what they charge because he's winning in the tourneys every year. In the meantime these tourneys used to sell out by 5:00pm and now you can get a seat almost up until the 7:00pm start. I don't blame CAZ for getting what they can but it seems like things are going to slow down.

Yes the SNG's are cancelled. Tuesday brought a few players who had come in for the SNG's, but not much complaining that they were gone. The players realized, and many even made comments acknowledging the negative effect they had on the live action in the room.
I know the management IS looking for other ways to add value to the room, just at less of a cost to the live games. They are thinking ahead, somethings will work, some wont.
