It makes no difference at all how much money it is, $1 or $1 million. You return it, it's not yours. It's that simple. You people saying to keep it or how to do so without getting caught obviously weren't raised in a wholesome two-parent home.

Regardless, as I already stated, the site will eventually discover the mistake and will expect the money back. Even if you leave the site they will track you down through legal means if necessary. It's not a game. If you think $6k is worth being poked while in the pokey, then go for it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I find it amazing that people are so quick to ask "how much" on anything. It might be how much a site froze untill they investage you or something like this. It doesn't change a thing. Besides $100 to me is still a good amount of money, to someone elese its like $1 bills in their wallet.

Hypothetical scenario

I request a cash out via check for $2000, wait a week and find the transaction has been canceled and the money is back in my account.
The site claims they are changing their bank and apologize.

2 weeks later I request a check for $1500, receive it and deposit it.

1 week later I receive 2 more duplicate checks, for $1500 and $2000.

I talk to the site, they say they will get back to me, and do, saying there is no error go ahead and deposit the check.

Strictly hypothetical of course.

I would be tempted to keep it, of course. People who say they wouldn't also be tempted are lying, I think. I don't know that I would be in a hurry to contact the site, necessarily, in any event. I would if it were Pokerstars or even Full Tilt or one of my favorite sites. Just send them an email to let them know. They'll appreciate it, and you can be proud of yourself. And when a discussion comes up about lying, and everyone is nodding sagely, muttering, "yeah, everybody lies," you can say loud and righteously, "no, everybody does NOT lie."

The amount does not matter on a moral level at all. As a matter of risk and opportunity cost the amount matters a lot. Would i risk taking 1000 bucks from a site whereafter I would be afraid to play at the site anymore or risk forfeiture of my money, risk further profits from playing, and perhaps legal action, damaging my name? No.

BUT if it were 20 Million dollars, I would have to consider the risks of having to skip town, being dis-barred, sued, etc because the reward is so great.

as of the sum:
I had a long talk with a police officer (long time ago) about why we have the police. He told me that if more than 2% people do something illegal we would be fool to try to punish them". (referring to some forms of prohibition). When more then 2% of population doesn't respect police then it's no more job for police. It's a job for an army and civil war comes to town.

That's why it's bad to steal $200 (or $2). Because there are too many mistakes. People has to accept it or there's gonna be anarchy.



Don't get me wrong. I return $1 when I get seller mistakes.
But in case anyone mis-sends me 1.000.000 of dollars I'm buying 2 girls and a nice house in Rio. Then maybe I'll send a very thankful letter [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]





BTW. one more example why it's bad to steal $200 but it's good to steal $2.000.000: do you like Boony and Klide, Billy Kid, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid?
