Learn to trust your reads, man. If you felt he was strong, checking JJ for set value is probably the best play, precisely because he's gonna shove over your raise and you'll be left with posting this hand here. As played....fold. You can even fold this online sometimes. Live - always fold.

My advice to OP: stop beating yourself up. I think everybody agrees you made a small mistake in raising so much. But in reality that small mistake was probably not the reason you busted out on the next hand (I'm assuming that's what you did). [censored] happens. Let it go.

I shove the second hand against Seif. He's super aggro so you're ahead of his range, and he could look you up very light because you just lost a big hand and could be steaming.

i disagree. if i have AA or KK on the first hand at the ft with this action there's no way im gonna put in a cheese raise and invite everybody in. i'd jack it up to like 20k too.

hand 1 i think i play the same. don't listen to the guy saying you turned your hand into a bluff because 9 times out of 10 you have the best hand here and are dealing with straightforward limpers where there's significant value in bumping it up. i think you got caught in a tough spot here but recognized the situation well and made the right fold.

hand 2 we're obv not cold calling oop so its either 3 bet or fold and i think i fold. you said seif was a maniac but is he really limper owning at hand 2 of the ft? aside from that your image is screwed up from the last hand and you could get looked up with a wider range now.

its sound strategy to play solid at the start of the final table. first impressions are the lasting ones. if you play like a maniac from the get go then its tougher to abuse everyone later. of course this is how i think and who knows how mark seif thinks. but id imagine he's showing up with air here a lot less often than you think.

i understand your thought process against decently thinking live players who at least try to following the Harrington mindset, but from what I know of Seif's game from TV and from what friends told me this week sitting w/ him in Niagara, he is a total spewtard preflop and postflop.

As such I feel you have to throw conventional solid thinking out the window and instajam just about any ace, broadway, or pair in hero's spot.

a decent analogy would be, same stacksizes deep in a sunday warmup, everyone is unknown (including hero) except button who is djk123.

Here is the main problem with hand 1. I think that you raised the exact wrong amount. I am not trying to be unnecessarily harsh about it. But I mean if you raised less, then you can fold, or if you raised to like 30-35k, you have to call. I just think that this exact level of raise put you in the absolutastic [censored] level.
hand 2: if its djk im shoving AJs here all day. So im shoving against mark seif
