Default Accidentally started playing stud

I accidentally opened a stud windown on FTP, it looked intersting so I sat down

I have no idea how to play stud mind you but I thought I would give it a go

Well I kinda like it and now I would like to get better

What books do you recommend I read? And what advice can you give me about playing in general?

7 card stud for advanced players. play 3 to flush, high 3 to str8, big pairs to start out. Search this forum for discussions of ante bring-in setups at ftp. different ratios change play.

I second that, with the exception of the AKQ or any 3 card straight which has a couple overcards to the board (they have extra value because you have a chance of improving to the best pair, also). Maybe further exceptions like 3 card straights with 2flushes? I don't know.

if you have 1 or more straight cards that is an over to everyone's door card, play it.

My thinking on 3 card to straight tended towards jt9 or better with live cards and hopefully not more than 1 or 2 overcards to hero's highest card. so JT9 on a ring game of A, K, 6, 2, 4, 5 . You are right about 2 flush being an important equity bonus on 3 straight hands.

That sounds pretty reasonable. You adjust upwards if the A or K raises, though, right? Roy West's rule of low limit stud is that a raise for a high card is *usually* what it represents (a big pair of that rank)
