Default I folded KK preflop

I figure this forum is the safest place to post this without getting flamed.

Borgata 5/10NL.. I find myself with KK UTG. I decide to make it 60. Folds around to the button who pushes for maybe $750. SB mucks and it gets to BB.. He sits there thinking seeming really puzzled by what's happened. He then pushes over the top for maybe $900.

Now, I have a read on both guys.. I have no doubt that the button just wants to gamboooolll. The BB is a problem however.. I have no doubts that he has the goods. Given my big UTG raise followed by an all in, him pushing over the top leads me to believe he can only have aces.

Well, I did something I have never done before. I folded kings preflop. I was very proud of myself.

And yes.. the guy showed aces. The original pusher had 8s9s. I was dead on with both reads.

Your read was correct and you made a great call. There's nothing wrong with folding. Just because you have KK and "you have to play them".

nice fold. you wouldve been a huge dog in that one. and i think 89s is the best hand against AA.

Funny you say that.. Flop had 2 8s on it, but the turn was an A preventing a terrible bad beat. I actually would have been third in the hand with my kings. Pretty sick.

Nice lay down. Making reads is one thing, trusting them quite another. Great work.

come down this friday and play some 20/40 or 40/80.

I might jump in a nice nl game if it looks soft.

i'm surprised it's something you had never done before. i've folded KK preflop at least a half dozen times, probably more, and always felt confident in my decision. it's just another hand. of course it's definitely read-dependent, against those donks at the borgata i'd practically never fold.
