Explain this to me

1st MVP: 15.5 PPG 11.5 APG
2nd MVP: 18.9 PPG 10.5 APG

This yr so far- 18.8 PPG 11.5 APG

so if he was found to be worthy twice, by the numbers alone shouldnt he win again?

[/ QUOTE ]
I see this thread is finally reaching the correct conclusion that Nash >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>> all. Took a little longer this time though.

I put some down on Kobe at 4/1, so here's hoping he wins it.

Dirk should though.

But if Nash were really not worthy of these two awards, doesn't that make the point moot?

[/ QUOTE ]

ah exactly, that is the only argument that i currently accept.

however, if you think that he did deserve them, that what is your logic in saying he doesnt deserve them now?
(that 2nd question is a lot more relevant to the people that decide the MVP voting and voted for nash)

[/ QUOTE ]

If you have Insider, read Hollinger's piece on this debate. It's really hands down Dirk, and then the rest. Nash isn't even close.

Dirk is just ridiculously talented, and extremely efficient. A really cool point Hollinger makes is that because of Dirk's efficiency and his low amount of turnovers, less possessions are wasted and guys like Howard and Terry still get to put up big numbers. Most fans don't pick up on that sort of thing when thinking about an MVP debate.

Why do you think he won't win it. Because he doesn't deserve to win it doesn't mean he won't.
edit: I'm not sure I really think he'll win it either. But Dirk was at 1/5, and that's no fun.

I don't think kobe deserves to win. It also doesn't help his MVP chances considering how everyone turned into a kobe-hater.

Kobe is individually talented. He fails to understand the big picture (maybe cuz he never went to college). Phil Jackson can only do so much on the bench. As a result, the Lakers suffer. The lakers will never become a .700 team that Dallas, Spurs, Suns are in the next three years.

So why should Kobe be rewarded an MVP if his team isn't a legit contender.

I'll also lay 2:1 odds that the lakers do not make it out of the first round.

Wow, I pity the foo who takes you on that at 2:1, considering that they are assured of playing San Antonio, Phoenix, or Dallas in the first round, contingent upon their final seeding. They're realistically too far behind Houston to improve to the fifth seed.

Nashless Suns, Dirkless Mavs, Duncanless Spurs are all much better than Kobeless Lakers. Kobe being a ball hog isn't costing the Lakers is .700 record the lack of talent surrounding him is.

Kobe
40mpg 30.8p/5.8r/5.4a ft%=87 fg%=46 3pt%=36
Oh yea, he plays [censored] defense also. Nash is a liability on D and Dirk, while better than before, still gets pwned by anyone with decent offense abilities.

Dirk
37mpg 25p/9.3r/3.4a fg%=50 ft%=90 3pt%=42
Surrounding players are much better than Kobe's also.

So how is it really hands down that Dirk is MVP? Also, no way Duncan deserves MVP over Kobe, are you kidding me? People hate on Kobe but the reality is that a lot of times, his teamates just give him the ball, stand around, and watch him put the ball through the hoop. I'm not even a Lakers fan I'm just sick of all the hating going on.
