Re: Ok, who\'s your NBA MVP?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [image] EDIT: Suns could easily still win their division with Barbosa as a starter. [/ QUOTE ] Suns have done horribly this year without Nash even though they played a soft schedule when he was hurt. And they lost in convincing fashion to boot in several of the games. [/ QUOTE ] This is a convincing argument against Nash's MVP case. Anyway, Dirky Dirk Dirk. Duncan #2. A tangle at the pretty distant three between Kobe, Lebron, et al. |

Re: Ok, who\'s your NBA MVP?
Dirk will win it this year. If Nash hadn't won it two years in a row, the vote would be closer, but Dirk will run away with it as is.
Kobe is clearly picking up steam lately. I think he is the odds on favorite to win it next year, as Bynum should improve, Odom may finally stay healthy, and the Lakers will turn in a great season. Lebron shouldn't be in the discussion really, but he'll get his before its all said and done. |

Lakeshow wouldnt be above .500 without him and they wouldnt make the playoffs. [/ QUOTE ] This is almost certainly true, but to be fair the lakers are not that far above .500. they probably would also fall under .500 with no odom for the entire year. |

I love Odom's game.
Kobe can't be MVP after tonight's performance against the Grizzlies. Horrible. |

Nash is the MVP of the Suns for the first time in 3 years [/ QUOTE ] Wow, random. Who do you think was the "MVP of the Suns" the previous two years? Amare two years ago and ??? last year? I'm really not trying to debate, that's just a weird thing to say. If Dirk wins that's fine, at least I like the guy. The poll running at ESPN.com today asks this very question (without LBJ though, who really doesn't belong in the conversation). Predictably CA, AZ, and TX are homer picks but the rest of the nation is pretty divided. It was Kobe 36%, Dirk and Nash 32% each at the time I voted, with the apparent difference being that pretty much every state on the east coast prefers Kobe over the other two. |

Re: Ok, who\'s your NBA MVP?
Last year I'd go with Marion but I could understand Nash.
Edit: I'd be cool with Dirk, Duncan, or Kobe winning it. |

we really should be talking about a potential Dirk 3peat this season.

Re: Ok, who\'s your NBA MVP?
Jack,
Marion is too much of a space cadet to every be the most reliable player on any truly good team. I mean I love the guy but it's like he's on his own planet or something. I also want to feel bad for how little press and endorsements he gets for the numbers he puts up, but then I remember he's the highest-paid player on the Suns and I don't feel so bad. I would expect him to jet after next year, when he's an unrestricted free agent. Between his notorious insecurity and need for constant coddling and Sarver's reputation for being cheap, I doubt he'll get 15+ mil/per from the Suns now that he's entering his thirties. Also, I must be completely asleep at the wheel for Duncan to even be in this conversation. |

All of the "Well, without N his team would be terrible" arguments are absurd. That's not what MVP should honor. Would Dirk's MVP candidacy be improved by him spiking Josh Howards Gatorade in November and therefore being a bigger fish on a crappier team? |
