couldn't agree more. i love leading in spots like this. he will rarely give you any credit b/c its "just a donk bet" and will gladly inflate the pot for you.

no, I didn't call this..... and sometimes I lead here, sometimes I c/r (sometimes I c/c too). I had my reasoning for trying to c/r this particular time, although I don't remember it at the moment.... I had probably seen him call a c/r light or something, but I don't disagree at all w/ donking here.

This kinda surprises me, esp several ppl saying this.. if this is true I've had a leak for years now.

5% of effective stacks.. isn't that a standard call with small pairs? I understand his range contains a LOT of hands he won't stack off with, but I always thought that's balanced out by the times he checks down. Hm now that I think about it that's kinda retarded, I guess you guys are right.

So, just out of curiosity, what are your calling standards in spots like this?

High cards are decent enough here actually, you can often maneuver your way to playing with the fish and avoid the TAG with weakish top pair hands. Pot is also somewhat protected, BTN can't go too crazy given that MP is liable to stack off at any time.

If MP comes along you're nearly guaranteed to be facing a bet from one of them at some point and your 3s aren't going to win at showdown very often anyway even when it is checked down. So essentially you'd be calling for set value, but Button should be raising any two he's playing or even just any two some % of the time so you're not going to stack him very often.

FWIW I would like high cards or something like 66+. I would almost never call 22-55 here unless I know for fact button has a tight PFR range.

I mean nuts/air with nuts usually,
specific read necessary for a light call but your beating onepairish hands turned into bluffs and obviously losing to the nuts.
