Default Play 10-20 or a mini Tourney?

I have been playing for a living for 3 years now strictly online. I am thinking of taking a break and playing live for the next couple of months.

My local casino offers $100 & 200 Sit N Go's. These games are super soft, like 3 years ago back in the day $5 Party Sit N Go soft. I've probably played about 13 of these in the last week and either won or split the prize 7 times

My question is are they profitable enough to be playing tournaments only or would cash games be better.

The blind structure sucks:

11 players all start with 40 chips, Blinds Start at 1-2 and double every 11 hands, the blinds get capped at 10-20

The house takes 1 buy in as rake so an $1,100 prize pool becomes $1,000 for the winner. A $2,200 prize pool becomes
$2,000

Once there are 3 players left a deal can be made. Thes games run all day long and take about an hour to complete

Obviously the variance in these games would be huge but would they be more profitable then say, playing a 10-20 game?

Any thoughts?

I dont think you can beat this game seriously, the structure is pretty much unbeatable.

Actually the fact that its a winner takes all may make it beatably. But then your main edge should be when playing 3 / 2 handed and that other people are scared. The average stack would be like 4 BB, so you could just push ATC, most people would probably be too passive at this point.

So if you go for it I dont think you should deal if you have a decent chance at winning, otherwise you may have no edge.

The structure of the game doesn't make it unbeatable...it's the ROI% lost to vig/rake that MAY make it unbeatable.

Think about it...if I told you that you could play in a horrendous structure, but there was no rake...wouldn't the most skilled player still be able to "beat it" since this particular setup is a zero-sum game. It is the structure + the avg. quality of opponents bounds the maximum ROI that is attainable.

Therefore, to the OP:
1) The structure is so bad that I doubt a high enough ROI can be attained (to overcome the rake + generate a decent $/hr) if your opponents are reasonably good.

2) If you think the opponents are so bad that you have a significant advantage, then continue playing. I have been in some SnGs (live) where the opponents are so horrible that it is profitable to play even given a rapidly increasing blind structure.

Hint: Think WSOP SnG structures and players.
