Check out Lemont. It's kind of the best of both worlds. You're almost in the country, but just 30 minutes to the city. It's got a decent downtown with some nice restaurants. Good schools and you can get a lot bigger house and yard for your money than in comparable suburbs. There's a nice mix of older homes and McMansions. It's like living in DuPage but with the cheaper Cook County property taxes.

The train is not great and there is no weekend service, but there are better lines you can take in nearby towns.

eh ... i dunno bout that, no offense but i hate Lemont, the school isnt that great, Lemont High School anyways, i dunno bout other schools there. I know a lot of Lemont people, and well, they're not very well adjusted people. If you move to Lemont, you have to research really well to find the not so crappy areas

Some of these time estimates for your commute are optimistic, to say the least.

For what it's worth, I live in Naperville and it is a nice community, diverse in nature and rather affluent. Downtown is pretty live. In terms of poker, there is live poker in Aurora and Joliet which are 20 minutes away, though much better are in E.Chicago and Hammond, Indiana an hour away. Naperville is well-represented at the WSOP.
