Default Trip Report: Idiots & Buffons @ Spirit Mtn. Casino

Here is a more complicated than it needs to be rebus puzzle for the masses.

Believe it or not, Nerdking and I are not the idiots and buffons I will be referring to.

Here is Nerdking's first mention of the trip from the build up thread just to make sure his word is heard. I'm sure he'll get in here on some of the stories or have is own if he has time.

just got back, tired. up about 50BB from 3/6. God I love live poker. Trip report if I feel like it. Great meeting Beef in person. Ryan is the shizz, I hope to play in his home game in September. Where the hell was Cold_Cash?

Not long from now, I'll have a primer story for this report. I'm not sure when the first long edition will come out though. You can consider this a lamer, less interesting version of the Foxwoods report which I'm sure is soon to flood the forum.

Let's start out with the tale of the idiot of this trip. Even though I'd much rather call her a buffoon, I found it harder to find a proper 'buffoon' pic. Fear not though, the buffoon will make his appearance quite known some time later.

Actually, now that I think about it, there was both an idiot and a buffoon in this very same hand.

Backstory: I've been sitting at this 3/6 table for two hours now and there is a lady across the table who is one of those old grouchy b1tches. You know the type, whining about this, bugging the dealer about that. She's also a bit of a know it all who knows absolutely nothing. She's perhaps been playing for several years, but somehow hasn't learned a thing.

I pretty much hate her, which means I want to make her so poor that she'll have to eat cat food (stolen from a player in an earlier game who was hilarious) because that's all she'll have left at home once she's broke.

Naturally as my luck would have it, the seat to my right opens up and she wants to change seats. So she sits to my right and I have to make nice with her. She talks about her niece and how she's pretty good at poker because she's young, cute and nobody believes she ever has anything and blahblahblahmeowmeowbarkbarkKILLMENOWmoomooblahbla hmeow.

So the hand in question...well it's not really in question, she just did the most idiotic thing I've ever seen at a poker table.

Fold, Limp, Grouch raises and I think I heard her say "Watch this."

I look down to see JT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and am perfectly happy to cold call because I know several others are coming along. We immediately get at least two more cold callers and she makes a sound in digust and as she flips her cards face up says, "I might as well play this face up because they're not going to win now." It's the dreaded worst hand in poker, pocket aces.

I am just beside myself at how dumb that is. As the table begins to talk about this, she defends herself and talks about how aces can't win against that many people.

Now of course, the chances of winning go down as you get callers, but give me a f'ing break lady.

I of course say nothing, but am exploding w/ names I want to call her inside.

She has now made it possible to play the hand perfectly against her. I will lose no more to her, but she can certainly lose more to me should I flop well enough.

So the flop comes 666. The table is still in a bit of an uproar over her open cards and kind of acting like we're not really playing the hand.

So here is where the other moronic play comes in. One of the cold callers behind me now flips over his 46s.

What the hell is going on? This guy clearly doesn't understand that this lady needs to be taught a lesson. Basically no more money goes in and the this guy wins a tiny pot.

If I had that 6, I would have bled her dry. She has a full house and certainly would have paid one bet on every street.

Flippin' ugh. The result is that her play actually did save her money that time because she didn't put another dime in. LOL!

You guys who aren't getting out and playing live, it's worth it just for the stories.

Day one travel, lodging and other random notes later, possibly as late as tomorrow.

Dis these people have a lobotomy that went awfully wrong?? This is the dumbest [censored] I've ever heard, by both of them !

BTW, I played at Spirit Mountain this spring, 3/6 as well. Wasn't impressed by the poker room, and donked off about 25BBs, being utterly card dead for the entire evening.

Keep the story flowing ...

That is a long jaunt from Texas muh boy.

The room isn't very impressive, but 18 or so so tables is the biggest I believe we have in Oregon. They need to close it off to smoke though. Smoking the room isn't allowed, but there is a row of "smoking allowed slots right next to the open entrance.

In addition to enjoying trip reports, I am rereading all the trip reports I can find and eagerly anticipating yours. I am planning to play "live poker", in a casino, at the end of August. This will be the first time in ten years. My previous experience was always stud, not hold 'em, so I need all the pointers and help I can absorb from your trip reports.

pointer #1 - Don't flip your AA face up after getting 6 cold callers preflop
pointer #2 - Don't flip your flopped quads face up to ensure you get no mobnies!

OK.. carry on...

Reread SSHE Bona. It will actually be applicable again.

Also, wear a shirt w/ your avatar ironed on it.

Well, I was in Portland on business for three days, couldn't resist BTW - wasn't impressed by the strip bars either. Come to Dallas, I'll take you to the Baby Dolls

Which reminds me - I'll be in Seatlle next week, anyone up for an assault on Muckleshoot?

Very good start, but definitely need more!

This would be even funnier action tho:

chks to AA, with her flipped cards, and she bets, and guy raises, she calls down and complains in the process that he clearly has the 6 and he shows the 6 and takes her monies.

also, I think Remy's ava should be OK for liveware. Please don't upload the tiny pixelated version to cafepress--find the original biggun.
