You are asian American....my roommate is chinese american (grew up there since he was 10, speaks with an american accent etc). I consider him to be asian american. An ex was Australian Chinese I considered here asian australian. Get my drift.

People perceive you by your looks - if you look Asian and play like a maniac you are a Crazian. If you look white and play like a maniac you get a different response.

The stereotype in the West is of how Asians are percieved here, not how they act in Asia. I agree that gamblers view Asian in a completely different light than non-gamblers.

I think the guy was just trying to say "You're too [censored] Midwestern to be a crazy degenerate LAG". He was also, in his own way, trying to let you know that he thought you belonged there and didn't consider you an outsider.

I'm half White, half native Pacific Islander, but I look really Irish and "act" like a typical Whiteboy.

Probably because when I say I'm half-Pacific Islander, I really mean that my Irish-American mom was born in Hawai'i before it was a United State of America. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I've got a couple half-Asian friends. One is Irish/Korean and another is Yugoslavian/Korean. They both look more Asian than White and most people don't even know they are half White. I'm not sure how they act. They act like people. Sometimes I do wonder if they have an "identity" issue because maybe Asians see them as White and Whites see them as Asian, but I've never brought it up (because if they did have an issue with it I certainly don't want to fuel it and put more thoughts in their head).
