As described OP is the only tight aggressive player there anyway. Most others are tight passive so I raise every time with KQo UTG. Especially getting re-raised by LAG with any A/pair to take out the blinds and make his hand obvious.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is largely postflop expectation based, but I think a fold in a 10 handed game here is probably close to neutral EV, defintiely lower variance. My point was just that his statement was ill-formed.

(Preflop: I have K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img])
I raise UTG, folds to Villain in seat 10, Villain 3-bets, folds to me, blinds fold, I call.

That's pretty weak stuff to be raising with from under the gun. You'd probably do better if you decided to be the only tight aggressive player in the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree.

After the awful pre-flop mistake, your play is fine. The value bet on the river seems reasonable. You probably get called enough by a ten, QQ, and ace high to justify it.

Fold pre-flop. KQo isn't a full-ring UTG hand, not unless you have 3 walkers.

You don't say how often the villain goes to showdown, but if there's a chance of making him fold, you'd do a lot better check-raising the flop and betting the turn (any turn, but especially one where you just made top pair with a good kicker, and 10+ outs to improve)

River value bet is obvious.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. The consensus seems to be to bet the turn - I will keep that in mind in the future.

With regards to another poster's question, this particular hand was dealt 8-handed.

Do you see the logical fallacy of playing loose because you're the only tight player there?

do you see the fallacy in your last statement. if you have an unusually loose table it is optimal to loosen up yourself.

suppose everyone at your table played 100% their hands. would you tighten up?

Is raising KQo UTG 10-handed really considered spew? I fold if I've come in raising a lot or shown down some mediocre starting hands and raise if I haven't played a hand in a while. While if you are playing fast it may be a bit -EV UTG, I don't think its ever "spew."

No, but one person said it was, so the next 10 replies had to agree with him. Preflop here is retardedly trivial and shouldn't even be looked at.

The flop donk and lack of turn donk make absolutely no sense given the read on villain. In fact they make the exact opposite of sense.

I call it spew, absolutely.

I was about to post that I'd open it in MP, 10-seated, but not earlier, and I decided to look at PT to see how it fared in reality, using my old party lhe hands as my sample, since old party is pretty similar to new casino.

It looks like it was a questionable open up through EMP, and was an open-raise thereafter.

I know some people are better post-flop than me, but I don't think they're *that* much better to overcome the numerous problems that result when you raise KQo UTG. It's a spew, and snarky claims of groupthink don't change that.
