Default Moving up to $5/$10

I've been winning at the $3/$6 and $4/$8 limits and I'm about to make the move to $5/$10. I've read lots of poker literature discussing limit hold'em strategy at various limits and skill levels, but I'm hoping I can get some insider advice. Is there any distinct difference in play at the $5/$10 level compared to $3/$6 and $4/$8? Also any tips I can use going in to this new game for the first time would be helpful. (Note: I prefer and for the most part play only 'live' cash games.) I'd appreciate any guidance you can give me. Good luck at the tables! Cam

Live, it depends largely on the casino. In some places, like Turning Stone for example, 5/10 is the nittiest game in the place. In other places, 5/10 is the same as 3/6 or 4/8. Of course a nitty live game is a dream online game so its not unbeatable or anything.

No difference in the 3/6, 5/10 live games around here... besides the chip values obviously

The game might be slightly tighter or slightly more aggressive, but really it depends on the room. One casino in my area has a laggy 5/10, while the other has a loose/passive one. If you are passing through 4/8 no problem, you shouldn't have a problem with 5/10. However, if your casino spreads 6/12, you should play that instead. Games that require more chips per bet tend to be looser.

5/10 live is a cake walk. its just like pstars .50/1 but with out all the aggression. i take 5/10 live for 2 bb an hour. online however is a much different story(break even for me).

Playing here at foxwoods its 5/10 has a full kill and sometimes can play 4-5 hands at 10/20 before going back to 5/10 so check that out too. good luck

Monty,

How is that compared to the 4/8 game?

Thanks,

Turned out to be pretty similiar except I saw fewer K3os, 57d, Q8, type hands from middle position. Starting hand requirements seemed to be a little tighter. Luckily there were a couple of live ones that were capable of making top pair weak kicker and calling me down to the river, allowing me to scoop several pots. But for the most part I was card dead. However, I made enough to make it worth the 90 minute drive. If I had seen any hads stronger than KJos or Ace rag I might have have a really great night.

Dude, if you are calling someone who calls down with TPWK a "live one", you are playing in the wrong live 5/10 game.
