Default Moving up to $5-$10

I've been winning at the $3/$6 and $4/$8 limits and I'm about to make the move to $5/$10. I've read lots of poker literature discussing limit hold'em strategy at various limits and skill levels, but I'm hoping I can get some insider advice. Is there any distinct difference in play at the $5/$10 level compared to $3/$6 and $4/$8? Also any tips I can use going in to this new game for the first time would be helpful. (Note: I prefer and for the most part play only 'live' cash games.) I'd appreciate any guidance you can give me. Good luck at the tables! Cam

You might want to ask this in Small Stakes -- that's the appropriate forum for 5/10.

I'll do that. There is some argument for where small stakes end and medium stakes begin. I've heard $5-$10 up to $10-$20. Thanks for the suggestion.

No. I'm getting my questions answered in the small stakes forum without the sarcasm. Get over yourselves.

In my experience 5/10 is not very different from 3/6 at all. They're both pretty soft and a pretty basic strategy should be very effective.

There's not much of a difference between those limits, just concentrate on playing good poker. When are you making the jump?

I'm going up to a new casino in OKC, River Wind. They have higher limits than some of the other indian casinos in the area....up to 10/20. I'm going up tonight to give 5/10 a shot and if I do well I'll continue to play at that level. If not I'll drop back down to 3/6, 4/8, and 1/2 NL.

You're going to evaluate what limit you should play based on the results from one B&M session? You realize that's going to be about 150 hands, right? I don't think you should make this decision depending on how you do tonight.

Also, the rake is so vomitous at low limits, you'd do best to play as high as possible. Really, at B&Ms, the play is all the same up through at least 8/16. There's no difference between the skill level at 5/10 and at 2/4.
