The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract.
It is the best $5 I've ever spent on a book. If that isn't your cuppa, then the Cussler books mentioned are great casual reading. Or George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series. Or... well it depends on taste. edit: wow Rothko nailed it. It's been so long since I read it that it didn't leap to mind. |

Ender's Game is pretty great. Limesparks, could you possibly be more specific? I'm not familiar with any of those names you listed or their best works, but I'm interested. I can do some work on my own, but I need first names at least.
