Default Vegas and free booze at poker table question

I like booze and I like gambling.

In Australian casino's your lucky to get a free coffee. With my first trip to Vegas soon I don't want to look like an idiot with my booze requests. Say I'm playing mid stakes poker can I order pretty much anything from the bar?

Thanks for the help with my noob question. I also plan on getting some time in at a couple of the LA rooms, would it be the same at the Commerce and Bike?

Cheers!

In Vegas, it depends where you play. All Vegas casinos provide free beer, wine and spirits of some quality level, so if you're not picky, play anywhere. Generally, the more upscale the casino, the broader and better the liquor selection. The Venetian, in particular, seemed to offer whatever I wanted, whether that was reasonably good scotches or strawberry daiquiris.

I don't know about LA, but in northern California, the cardrooms do not serve free drinks. Enjoy your visit!

High-end champagnes and MacAllan scotch, you won't get. Ditto regional stuff like Crocodile Snout beer. But everything else is game. Just ask if they have it. Some poker rooms only give you middle-of-the-road hooch. Some, like Bally's, let you order just about anything withing reason. You can order the $25 a bottle bourbon as well as the $10 stuff.

No free booze in Cali cardrooms, AFAIK.

Actually, IIRC, the Venetian does serve Macallan scotch, even at the low limit poker tables. Granted, I'm sure it was only the 12 year, or maybe the waitress was lying to me.

Getting free Macallan 12 at the Wynn while playing nickel video poker was one of the highlights of my last vegas trip.

Maybe I'm just used to NYC prices, but over here, $25 bourbon is no prize. You need to pay at least $35 for a 750ml bottle to get something decent like Maker's Mark or Knob Creek.

Whatever. I don't know from bourbon. I was just making a comparison that you aren't limited to Jonnie Walker red or black or whatever color is the cheapest.

Johnnie Walker is scotch, not bourbon.

Wow, I am in Utah where they tax the crap out of booze, and it's cheaper than that. If memory serves me, Maker's is ~ $25/ 750 ml. and Knob Creek ~ $30.

For what it's worth, I have had Maker's and Crown Royal (I know it's not bourbon) at most all the big strip resorts poker rooms, and I have had Knob Creek at the Wynn poker room. Tried to get Booker's, but that was a no go.

I've had no problem ordering doubles/triples of premium vodka and red bull at Mirage, Wynn, and Ex calibur.
