90% of poker is bankroll management and emotional control.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is soooo wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay. Its true once you can beat nl200.

[/ QUOTE ]

Still nowhere near 90%.

[/ QUOTE ]

No. Loads of people fail to beat high stakes though for the simple fact that they are not very good at poker.

The first 50% is understanding basic concepts. The next 40% is understanding common actions and learning to read players. The last 10% is emotional control and bankroll management. Sorry for the hijack though.

[/ QUOTE ]

The 50% and 40% is basic stuff and I lump it together. The other 10% is where you make your money as a grinder (above SSNL). For the 10% I also meant mental focus. Do you realize how much tilting off a stack actually effects your winrate?

Yes, but that is because most people are dumb and lazy. The actual concepts are not difficult for someone who puts in the effort and has a few brain cells.

I'm confused - do you mean it's not intended for specific stakes, like not just $1/$2 or $0.25/$0.50, or do you mean it's not even intended specifically for SSNL and UNL games? If so, why the shift from the original goal of writing an SSNL-oriented book?

[/ QUOTE ]

Correct, it is not specifically for any stakes. How do you explain playing small stakes without teaching people to play no-limit? There is no magic difference between the stakes. It's just different opponents. What we're trying to do is give you a big leg up.

Will both books be available at the same time or one at a time?

[/ QUOTE ]

roflmao. that would be one at a time.

[/ QUOTE ]

When is the expected release date? Ballpark?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know, but we're closing on submission, and Ed says Mason is fast.

Book should be solid. It won't change the games much though. 90% of poker is bankroll management and emotional control.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a lot of truth in what you say. I made some comments on bankroll in two recent HSNL threads I started. There is no way those numbers are conservative enough for an average online multitabler.

Matt,

Based on the negative feedback in this thread I guess you will probably have to 86 the NL book, hopefully this will allow your book of Challenger jokes to now move to the front burner

[/ QUOTE ]

The first book I wrote was a book of Yo Mama jokes. Some prick beat me to it. That was twenty years ago.

Here's an original:

Yo mama's so nasty she cut a fart one time and her cat went bald.

I kept the day job and stuck to writing how-to books.
